On job employee contests (sponsered by CP)

I have never worked for CP, but a lot of the jobs I have had, had on the job contests for employees sponsered by my employers. For example: When I worked for Blockbuster Video a couple of years back, they started to sell frequent renters programs for $9.95. With these renters programs they did a contest with the employees based on the amount of the renter programs we sold. If my memory serves me corectly, if we sold 25 of them we got a free used movie, if we sold 50 of them we got dinner for two at the resteraunt of our choice, and the grand prize, if we sold 100 of them we got (ironically enough) a CP season pass. Does CP have anything like this that they do with their employees while on the time clock? (in case you were wondering, I did not sell 100 frequent rental programs for the CP season pass. I just fell short:( )

Not really. We have "Battle Saturday" in Foods., that the employee's started 2 years ago. But every year on a Saturday of their choice they pair off the similar food stands throughout the park and let them compete in sales. The winners supervisor gets to throw a pie in the face of the manager of their choice.

Sometimes in foods, usually at the end of a saturday, we would get credits, meaning we could eat or drink anything our heart desired in our stand, which was nice but near the end of the season you tend to not take advantage of this as much cause you got sick and tired of looking at the food, much less eating it.

There was that make a scarecrow contest for Big Bash. By the way..I think the other departments bought their scarecrows, the petfarm one was made from scratch!! ;)

A couple of years ago we had a stand of the week thing in our zone. It was really cool we had a trophy and stuff. It wasn't as much based on sales but just a combination of stuff like people coming to work on time, haveing correct uniforms, etc. It wasn't a big thing and it wasn't something that each employee could have for their own, but it helped to build morale within the units (well when people weren't moaning and groaning cause a certain stand didn't deserve to win it!)...I hope to do that again this year within my zone at least...that is just one of my ideas to make a very tedious job a little more fun! It's gonna cost me out of my pocket with all the ideas I have for this year but if it makes a happy and more productive employee, then it makes my job easier and it is worth it for the guests too!

i remember that Heather, I remember when Stockade won the 5/6 trophy and we didnt have anywhere to put it, when our week was up they had come in before we opened that Sunday morning and taken the trophy and we thought that Happy Friar had stolen it! Then I heard the trophy got melted or something. It was pretty cool though. It was 1997.
