Yes, it looked like a good weekend to go. I watched the cameras a few times and wished I couldve been there this weekend. I gotta get my "good" weekend radar working a little better for next year.

No one can predict the crowd levels on any day. Just go whatever day works with your schedule and enjoy what you can.

I really miss the times when Halloweekends wasn't super popular and we concentrated all our visits in the fall. These days I'll still go on Halloweekends Sundays but it's not like it used to be, sadly.

We've just altered our perspective. We go in expecting the park to be mobbed to the point where rides and haunts are totally out of the question. When our kid is in tow, that means we hit the kid stuff and enjoy the decorations (Pumpkin Spectacular is pretty excellent). When we're on our own, we enjoy the atmosphere and/or get drunk.

I think this is true of Halloween in general. Haunted houses that used to cost $10 and were empty now cost $25 and you wait an hour to enter.

Part of my reasoning for justifying the cost of getting passes for the family a few years ago aside from just that I missed having them myself was that the kids were wanting to go to haunted houses and I had checked out the prices and holy crap...Last year we paid $25 for one only because it was a trip with the boy scout troop. I would have told the kids no otherwise. HalloWeekends is a bit of a deal if you seriously compare costs.

OMG the long lines! Is this normal? Um, yes for Halloweekends. This past Sunday Sept. 18th wasn't bad at all but probably because the outdoor walk throughs were closed and it was opening week for Haunt.

Now if you really enjoy BIG crowds and waiting in super long lines for regular coasters such as Gemini and Corkscrew, go in a few weeks around Saturday October 8th or Sunday the 9th, the dreaded Columbus Day weekend. If the weather is nice, you'll get an extra bonus mob of people who wait all year to go to Cedar Point until this time of year.

I made the mistake of going last year at this same time, knew I was in trouble at around 1pm coming in the main entrance when the traffic was 3 lanes across and about 50 deep. We still wanted to go, got inside the main gate and realized the MAIN lot was already totally full back to the Chausee toll booth. We parked to the immediate left of when you enter the main parking toll plaza entrance, (right past the Charlie Brown tree sculptures) and had to park in section 75K! You usually only see seagulls loitering over there. I'll never forget that one. We huffed it to the main gate, which seemed about a mile away. Thought my family was going to kill me! I said "hell, at least we didn't have to park back in the grass like we did in 1994" (when Raptor first opened). It was so bad, there was even a 90 min wait for Mean Streak last year during this time, and 60+ minute waits for Gemini and Corkscrew. The food stands (including Midway Market) had lines snaking down the midway. I'll skip the waiting this year, haha! Yes, good times to talk about indeed!
