Ohio roads

I'm going to CP in a few weeks from SC. I will be coming up I-77, and Google Maps says to take I-77 to I-80, which takes you to the CP exit on 250. I was thinking about getting off on 250 from I-77, south of Canton. I won't be in a hurry, and I understand that I would be driving through Amish country. Would this take me longer? I think the gas mileage would be better, but I don't know if it would be worth it.

I'm guessing it would add about a half-hour to your trip time. And save you $2.25 in turnpike fees each way.

Mileage wise, the 250 route is a bit shorter, but it's not freeway, so it will take a bit longer, but not much. If you're not rushed for time, it might not be a bad choice. You'll also miss construction on 77 that way.

If you are looking to bypass the Ohio turnpick, I would take 77 all the way to 90 west which turns into 2 which leads you to 6 (rye beach road) which takes you directly to CP. It will be a little longer than the turnpike route, but it will be shorter than taking 250 from canton all the way to Sandusky. I'd recommend this if you want to avoid the turnpike, but the quickest way from the Canton/Akron area in my experience is 77 to Ohio Turnpike to route 57, to highway 2 to route 6 (rye beach road).

Thanks CoastMani, I like that idea.

You don't need to go all the way to 90. Before downtown Cleveland, you take I-490 West and that will bypass downtown and take you to I-90 West. That's the way I'd go.
