A few years ago we went and did the whole Disney and Universal thing in February. While it was nice to be in Florida, and out of Michigan's chill you to the bone weather. I have to admit the entire time I was wishing I was at CP.
Sure Disney is an experience all in itself. And Universal has CP topped with the theming. But there is just something about Cedar Point that gets me exicited. Beginning with the beautiful skyline. :)
"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"
That feeling will wear off when you're older and travel more.
And yes, we're doing the full-blown Disney assimilation experience, with one side trip to Universal (we have annual passes) and IAAPA to score free Dippin' Dots.

It's like dating. If you only date one person from high school on, then get married, after awhile you resent that person because you never really learned what your likes and dislikes were, what the possibilities were, or sowed your wild oats, so to speak. So eventually you have those kinds of feelings for someone else, or rather, a different park.

I'll back Jeff on this one. Going to Italy at Epcot is nice. Going to Italy...in Europe...is nicer.
I never really got the off season blues while living in Ohio. I always enjoyed the "rebirth" of the parks each spring.

I used to slip off to Geauga Lake at lunch to see other people's girlfriends. Wait, what are we talking about?

Eh... I've done parks all over the world... Japan, Arab Emirates, U.K., Spain... But really, Cedar Point is still where it's at for me. Maybe for you since you live & breathe Cedar Point all day running this site etc etc... I can see where your dating analogy comes in.
It's more because I've lived here so long. When you remove the nostalgia, what you're left with isn't quite as cool as you think.

Yeah, I understand how people can have the passion they do for CP, but it's seriously my local hangout anymore. In some ways that's awesome because on "occasions" like closing weekend, I can just relax and enjoy the atmosphere and just being there.
It's not to say I don't love the place, but I could absolutely spend an entire day up there, enjoying myself, and not ever enter the actual park.
In fact, over the weekend I spent just as much time outside the gates as I did inside them, and I feel it was the best closing weekend I've ever done.
