October 17 & 18

We arrived in Sandusky at 1 p.m. on Friday, had a long lunch at Chili's, stopped over at Meijers for some snacks, and headed to check-in at the Breakers Express. Check-in was quick and we relaxed in our room.

5 p.m. ERT allowed us 3 rides on Millenium Force. It was awesome. Just before 6 p.m. we went to Maverick, where the wait was posted as 45 minutes. We ending up waiting 30 minutes (front seat) and then walked on Skyhawk. Magnum had quite a crowd on the platform, which surprised me for a Friday night, but we had to wait for the front seat (my husband is 6'7"). They were only running 2 trains. We waited about 15-20 minutes. If someone wasn't so tall.............!!!! We passed the Dragster, which had shut down temporarily, and the Power Tower (long lines). Rode the Matterhorn, Scrambler, Bumper Cars and Max Air. We wanted to go on the Twister, but the line was 1 hour! The line for the Pharoah haunted house just opened so we went inside there and waited about 15 minutes. Walked toward the back of the park to Terror Island (that was fun-no waiting), CarnEvil, and CornStalkers (long wait------50 minutes----the line in front doesn't look so bad until you go straight back and to the left---surprise! No walk through here! CornStalkers was good though, extra scary for me because I hate scarecrows! Lost half my voice in that one! (Husband loved that part!) Walked through Fright Zone and back to the front of the park to the Raptor. Rode it 2 times (front row both times) with waits about 10-15 minutes. Awesome! Saw that the Dragster was up and running, but the line was insane. The Magnum line was ridiculous as well (1 hour). So much for Friday nights being less crowded! I ended up on the WildCat (he doesn't fit) and when we got back to the Twister, it was, by now, a walk-on. So we rode the front seat once and the back seat once, and my final ride was the Max Air before we went back to Breakers Express.

Saturday ERT got us on the Maverick---------once! The line was out of the entrance gate. By the time the crowd was "corraled," we were in the 3rd row of silver bars on the ground level. When we finally got off the ride, ERT was over, the silver bars were full and out of the entrance gate. We rode Mean Streak, the Swings, the Cadilac cars and the Gemini. Went inside the children's area and rode Tilt-a-Whirl. The park was packed! We hopped on the train to kill some time and rode it around 2 times. It was unbelieveable the amount of people on Saturday---I thought that Columbus Day weekend was the worst, but I guess Sweetest Day weekend is becoming just as bad. After the train, we checked out a few stores and waited for the parade. It was cute. Then we headed for the car (for more layers) and walked to Bay Harbor for our Sweetest Day dinner. Love that place-----awesome food!!! After dinner, we went to see "Nights of Darkness." Excellent show!!! Very high energy, very entertaining. Then we went to see the Comedy/Magic show--------boring and juvenile! If you need to find a place to sit and warm up a bit, it's fine. If you're looking for entertainment, then pass this one by! From there we walked through Fear Faire and called it a night.

We were going to upgrade the 2 extra Friday night tickets we had to Sunday tickets, but after the crowds on Saturday, I was hesitant to pay an additional $16 each. Especially if we would have rode a few things and left because of the crowds. So we checked out of Breakers Express at 9a.m. and headed home.

We always visit during the summer (July) on weekdays, and the crowds then are nothing compared to the crowds this weekend.

Nice trip report, that happen to me on the 10th. Friday night seemed like a summers day, with all the crowds. It made it even worse that only a small number of rides were running, they did the same thing with Magnum, the hole platform filled up and only running two trains. That night only Raptor had a small wait.

I remember looking at the webcam though out the day Saturday, and seeing that parking lot just fill up like crazy. I remember last Saturday 11th coming back to Hotel Breakers, they were parking people in the grass, next to Blue Streak. We were going to do, like what you were going to do upgrading the two Friday night tickets for a full day, but Saturday was to busy so we went on only Sunday.

Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"

good TR. I was there on friday too and it was packed...3 reasons i think it was: 1. all schools in ohio were closed. 2. its getting really close to halloween. and 3.half the rides were closed.

Thank god for ERT.
