but Ocean Motion is too small and boring to boot.
Not according to my kids, both of whom are tall enough, but not yet brave enough, for skyhawk.
And, when I'm at the park with my kids (which is the vast majority of my visits) I don't ride anything without at least one of them. Ever.
These less-intense rides have an important place in the park.
I was comparing it to Viking Fury at Kings Island and when I first rode it, I was a kid too. I can imagine that if I am bored with Ocean Motion as an adult, it wouldn't have been any more exciting as a kid, especially since I had been on a better swinging ship ride. That was the point I was making. I'm not suggesting they remove it, but they should have bought a better one to begin with. Just like when I rode Mantis for the first time and immediately the only stand-up I could compare it to was King Kobra at Kings Island. After riding Mantis, I never rode Kobra again as Mantis does way more than Kobra ever thought about. The only thing that made it neat was it was my first standing coaster.

I rode it again on Sunday, and I have to say, it's not as much fun as I remember. It seems like last year there was a lot more airtime and better ride length, more like GL or Waldameer. The tire that powers/brakes the boat seemed very tired. It made surprisingly loud squeals with each pass, and there was a smell of burning rubber. I suspect it needs to be replaced, hopefully during this off-season.
I said pretty much the same thing when I rode it this year, especially about the squeals, noise and jerks with each pass, which I suspect is why the ride isn't getting as high as it used to.
I love OM and always made it a point to ride it...but there is definitely a maintenance issue with it this year that will hopefully be taken care of in the off season.
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
I like Ocean Motion, but I think the ride ops and the ride of Viking Fury at Kings Island just make the ride a lot better than Ocean Motion.
I find many smaller flat ride ops are some of the most dull people ever. I don't say this to offend or be rude, but they sit there and read their speil in the most monotone voice ever. The last time I rode Scrambler the ride op ran between the cars locking them and did a great job. The last time I rode Dodgem the op slowly walked between all of the cars and then returned to his stool and sounded like he was half asleep when he was reading. On a ride like Dodgem when you need to check over 20 cars you should make an attempt to hustle because it already has slow loading times. An enthusiastic ride op makes the experience funner..err... more fun.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Ugh, that ride...I'd take the Kennywood Pirate over the OM anytime.
1. KP's goes much longer 2-3 min
2. The Swing angle goes more than 90 degrees from vertical (verified this during Physics Day back in the day.)
3. It runs and sounds much better.

Indy's back and just in time.
"00-03" could also mean he went to Kennywood those years, jerk! :) I see no mention of emploee in there. Since you <3 The Voyage, should I assume you're a former ride op on it?
It's a Kennywood Employee ticker.
I'm not a 'fanboy', just someone who understands what's going on there. I am here as a means of clarification, for example: cases where a massive posting would occur over speculation due to something going on.
I guess..
Josh, you were with me at CP in August 03 the sunday before the massive power outage of the area. I remember you. How's it going? *** Edited 12/4/2006 8:14:34 PM UTC by DJTheC***

Thought this would be a good time to bring this topic back .. Assuming of course there is anything at all to these paint markings we're seeing.
I was super before Super Stew was cool !
Considering they just replaced the entire frame of the boat last year (or maybe it was the year before), it's not going anywhere.

Yeah .. They should move it and get it out where people can see it. That has to be the most hidden ride in the park.
