I think maybe 1/2 the problem of the latest "lack of airtime" comes from the people who would "accentuate" it by helping themselves up a little bit. In the old days before it became tame, I always heard at least one person being yelled at every cycle for "standing up".
I guess it could also just be that it seems less intense because we're so used to SkyHawk?
I was just there on sunday and I took my son on it. He loves the sea dragon at MA.It feels so out of control. But when we got on the ride and it only went back and forth like 4 times he was so disapointed. It didn't even get close to giving any airtime. The line for it is never really all that long why did they shorten the ride time and height so much?
Guess I just dated myself.
Is that a Kentucky thing? JK :)
Back on topic:
Ocean Motion is without a doubt, the lamest swinging ship I have ridden. The cycle on it (as well as most rides at CP) is very short. I say tear it down - along with the dive stadium - to make room for the GCI Dueling Woodie and new boardwalk section coming in 2009!!!!

but Ocean Motion is too small and boring to boot.
Not according to my kids, both of whom are tall enough, but not yet brave enough, for skyhawk.
And, when I'm at the park with my kids (which is the vast majority of my visits) I don't ride anything without at least one of them. Ever.
These less-intense rides have an important place in the park.
I don't think CP would catch a whole lot of major flack from kids that are pissed off from the removal of such a ride. Kids in general do not distinguish between so-called family rides. I doubt little Joey is going to be walking around the park all day, bitching to everyone in site, that they took out a ride that his parents shoved him on and he ultimately ended up liking. As long as they're riding something, they're happy. At least that's been my experience anyway.
I was super before Superstew was cool! Get Some!!
You might not hear it from the kids, but I think you would hear it from the parents.

Where else can you see a woman's bare breasts at Cedar Point?
In the waterpark, just watch the slide splashdowns for a while. ;)
...But inside the main park, you have a point.

I rode it again on Sunday, and I have to say, it's not as much fun as I remember. It seems like last year there was a lot more airtime and better ride length, more like GL or Waldameer. The tire that powers/brakes the boat seemed very tired. It made surprisingly loud squeals with each pass, and there was a smell of burning rubber. I suspect it needs to be replaced, hopefully during this off-season.
