Ocean Motion .. Times up

I think maybe 1/2 the problem of the latest "lack of airtime" comes from the people who would "accentuate" it by helping themselves up a little bit. In the old days before it became tame, I always heard at least one person being yelled at every cycle for "standing up".

I guess it could also just be that it seems less intense because we're so used to SkyHawk?

Who remembers screaming "Tastes Great!" andthen "Less filling!" as the ship goes from one side to the other.

Guess I just dated myself.

I remember that. I also remember the op's using the phrase "Ocean Motion is now in motion", though they might still use that today.

I was just there on sunday and I took my son on it. He loves the sea dragon at MA.It feels so out of control. But when we got on the ride and it only went back and forth like 4 times he was so disapointed. It didn't even get close to giving any airtime. The line for it is never really all that long why did they shorten the ride time and height so much?

Guess I just dated myself.

Is that a Kentucky thing? JK :)

Back on topic:

Ocean Motion is without a doubt, the lamest swinging ship I have ridden. The cycle on it (as well as most rides at CP) is very short. I say tear it down - along with the dive stadium - to make room for the GCI Dueling Woodie and new boardwalk section coming in 2009!!!!

but Ocean Motion is too small and boring to boot.

Not according to my kids, both of whom are tall enough, but not yet brave enough, for skyhawk.

And, when I'm at the park with my kids (which is the vast majority of my visits) I don't ride anything without at least one of them. Ever.

These less-intense rides have an important place in the park.

I don't think CP would catch a whole lot of major flack from kids that are pissed off from the removal of such a ride. Kids in general do not distinguish between so-called family rides. I doubt little Joey is going to be walking around the park all day, bitching to everyone in site, that they took out a ride that his parents shoved him on and he ultimately ended up liking. As long as they're riding something, they're happy. At least that's been my experience anyway.

You might not hear it from the kids, but I think you would hear it from the parents.

I go on that ride. I think it's fun. I don't like the workers on it though.

Elphaba: Yes, I've heard.

I love ocean motion I wanted it cedar point keep.

please lock these topic please?

Huh?

Leave this ride alone. It's a great ride and a nce looking ride. This and the wave swinger are 2 of my favorite non coaster rides in the park. Swinging ship rides are great fun. Part of the fun is you can see reactions of your fellow riders during the ride unlike most rides.

If they would lengthen Ocean Motion, I would absolutely love it. Right now its less than a minute..with no lines.....if they'd lengthen it more people would want to ride it.

Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.

DBCP,

No .. You will not hear it from the parents either. Unless of course that is the only kids/family ride left in the park when they yank it. Last time I checked, there were more rides, plenty in fact, than just OM for the kids to ride.

Where else can you see a woman's bare breasts at Cedar Point?

In the waterpark, just watch the slide splashdowns for a while. ;)

...But inside the main park, you have a point.

I agree with everyone that it needs to be lengthened. Having said that, I really enjoy that quiet place in the park, I mean with no quiet parts Cedar Point loses that charm that we have all come to know and love. Fact is Ocean Motion is a nice relaxing ride to get away from the busy midway.

I rode it again on Sunday, and I have to say, it's not as much fun as I remember. It seems like last year there was a lot more airtime and better ride length, more like GL or Waldameer. The tire that powers/brakes the boat seemed very tired. It made surprisingly loud squeals with each pass, and there was a smell of burning rubber. I suspect it needs to be replaced, hopefully during this off-season.

Must we keep risking the loss of more and more trees?

Keep it where it is.

I'm not advocating getting rid of it. Just fix it and get the ride cycle back up to where it should be. Then it will be every bit as fun as the day it first opened.
