Number of riders in load station

I don't think a majority of people know how well it's running. I think you should stand outside the ride with a megaphone and make sure everyone knows.

Perhaps you could even bring an easel with your charts?

Side note: if I hear one more person referring to people as "GP" I am going to go on some kind of rampage. There is no difference between people who know/like rollercoasters/cedar point and anyone else. EVERYONE who goes to CP or any public place is part of the "General Public".

Adam, I know what you're saying - but I was hanging out with somebody who actually used that term in public and I was like "are you serious?"

It sounds so pretentious and, GAH it just annoys me.

There is a difference. There are actually 3 subclasses of the GP.

The GP - those who go for fun and don't care to know or do much more than that.

Enthusisasts - Those who go and who like to know more than just the basics. They know the stats and when a ride is closed and all that stuff that causes the GP to think they are weird. Usually willing to help out the GP and impart their knowledge of all things amusement on them.

Enthusiasses - Similar to enthusiasts, except that they tend to look at the GP as "in the way" and "inferior". These people are usually laughed at by the real enthusiasts.

So while in the eyes of an employee we may just all be GP, there are 3 distinct sub-species of the GP.

You had to break it down that far, didn't you :(

let's see if I can remember the breakdown for S&G's.

Kingdom
Phylom
Class
Order
Family
Genus
Species

That's 10th grade honor's biology there. From 10 years ago.

e x i t english, Dont think of it as a negative term because it really isnt.....well that depends on who's saying it and what tone they say it in. I see the difference just as people who dont know the ride(s) in depth like most fans do. It's not a big deal if they dont know how Dragster works, how long Millennium is, what the inversions are called on Raptor and Mantis or how many degrees Wicked Twister spirals on its towers, it doesnt make them stupid. Theyre just there to ride the coasters, not to worry what the stats are. If someone says something incorrect, like "Dragster is 200feet and goes 100 mph" I just give a slight laugh and hope they read the signs in the queue or at best hear the op in the station say "we're going to take you up 420 feet and shoot you 120 mph in 4 seconds"(or whatever it is that they say exactly). I dont judge them what-so-ever.

Oh and:
Kingdom-human
Phylum- park visitor
Class- age of person
Order- people who go on the rides
Family- roller coaster riders
Genus- GP
Species- Enthusisasts/ Enthusiasses

That was kind of hard. If anyone has a better one, feel free to change it.:)

Well, all I can say is they must read this forum over at Cedar Point. I just got back from there last night and what do you know, there was a person working the turnstyles and they were limiting the number of people getting in the station. :) And as a side note, props go to Jenny, who was working all day at the OP#3 station. She was very nice to my Son and I, we had a nice conversation about a guy who wanted to get off the train after a rollback, what a putz, no offence Jeff. And she actually remembered us 12 hours later on our 10 PM, last ride of the night, launch.

First trip June 23rd
