Note to T+T

Concerning the latest blog...

There is no need to sample tons of new types of French Fries. Just get the Berardi Family back on the Point and get those great "Cedar Point French Fries" back to their original great quality! You have outsourced many of your other restaurants, why not this?

The Berardi Family fries are some amazing stuff! I could go for some of those right about now. :)

Good God, you have to beg for that stuff now!

Anyone had the Potato Patch fries at Kennywood? Awesome. Just awesome.

I was unaware that Cedar Point put any effort into its food stands. This is big news. Perhaps this is "Project 2009"? Quality food?

The fries being sampled obviously won't replace the fresh cut signature fries, they are undoubtedly for food stands like Burger Patio which serve standard fast food type fries.

Not sure how old you are, but the "signature" fries are hardly what they used to be. Not sure how the recipe got changed, but the quality is not what it was "back in the day".

I've never understood why Cedar Point thinks it is necessary to sell four different varieties of French Fries, three varieties of which out and out SUCK.

Why can you not get the good fries at any of the restaurants?

I think the fries are now cut in town someplace and trucked to the stands ready to fry. Why can't they do that for the restaurants and some of the other food joints as well? And in the locations other than the three fry joints, why are the fries always served COLD? (and frequently SOGGY)

I had the fries twice this year and they were fine each time. However, the chili meat that I got on the one order was not of high standard and had a lot of grizzle in it.

The food quality as a whole took a step back this year in my opinion. Midway Market took a step back while trying to diversify its menu. Somehow they forgot the Mexican portion of their food offering too. I also noticed that the stand making the elephant ears in the back was struggling bigtime as well. The guy from the Miller Light commercial definately was not selling the "highlife" back there.

WOW your are all lucky, I can't afford the food.

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

The stand selling elephant ears in Frontier Town has never even been sub par in terms of their service. It always takes at least 5 minutes to get one, and that's if there aren't 5 people in line in front of you.

And just because they are sampling new products, doesn't necessarily mean they are going to replace any of their current products. I work in the foodservice industry and our foodservice providers (and one's we don't even use) bring in new products all the time. Do we try what they bring? Sure. Do we buy 100 cases of everything we sample? Of course not. If something really is a good product we will buy, but if it isn't we say thank you but no thank you.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Old enough to remember when Berardi had the fresh cut french fry stands. The fries are still good, but Berardi did have a superior product.

Anyway, good or bad is subjective but they are still signature fries.

What are these Berardi fries you speak of, what kind of fries were they?

They were very good fries!

Berardi ran fry stands in the park for years before Cedar Point took over all the concessions. The three french fry stands...one on the main midway, one across from the old Oceana stadium, and one across from Gemini...serve Berardi-style fries.

You can, of course, get Berardi fries at Berardi's on Perkins Ave., just West of OH-4. :)

There is also a Berardi's in Huron:-)

You can read more from their website about the history of Berardi's.

Let me paint a picture, as I fondly remember Berardi's fries.

The wonderful smell as you would pass the stand walking down the midway. Large cut fries piled high in a rectangular container. Served warm and quickly by friendly employees (at the beginning - the Berardi family). The thick cut, and I mean thick cut, fries - crispy golden brown on the outside, fluffy hot potato on the inside - making you scurry to the condiments to get your catsup, salt, and/or malt vinegar. Many of the fries never made it to the table, as you couldn't help but to put on of the treats into your mouth and taste its goodness.

Drooling on the computer - not good.

Personally, I'd eat a load more fries there if they would make the switch to Heinz ketchup. Been discussed before, I know, but there's nothing like hot crispy fries with cold Heinz. Fancy Catsup is neither.

Matt D, are you going to go into every thread and complain that you can't afford the food? ;) I'm just messing with you. I can barely afford it eathier.

We did eat at Johnny Rocket's last season though. Their fries were horrible. They really didn't have any flavor to them at all. In between mine and my sister's plates we paid around $25. I wouldn't have minded as much if the food tasted better. The chicken tenders were alright, and the onion rings wern't too bad eathier.
