Not starting an argument... just confused about so

I AM NOT TRYING TO START ANY TROUBLE, I AM JUST WONDERING, DONT FLAME FOR NO REASON!!

RE: The videos that were shot of TTD testing.

They were taken down because they were 'illegal.' I am just wondering, how the person that shot them said he passed police a couple times and they didnt stop him, and he was just in the parking lot (which to my knowledge, was not off-limits), and not in the park in anyways, and how that makes the tape illegal.

If someone shot the ride testing from the MAIN parking lot, or from across the lake, and posted it, would those also be taken down from the site?

Thanks, and again, im not trying to stir anything up, I am just wondering why this is so.

No, the main parking lot is fine because you can park there to get season passes, and of course anywhere off-point is fine as well. I don't think "illegal" is the right word, and this isn't some big cover up... the thing is, CP does not want people driving around the park to the back lots, for several reasons. One that most people easily overlook is safety. They are still doing major construction, and you never know what could happen if you were to get in the way. They call it a construction lot for a reason...

Now can we please just end this?

ok, sorry I just wanted that to be cleared up... I was confused, because he DID say that he passed some police/security and they didnt stop him, so I was wondering.

Jeff, if you wanna lock this go ahead, I guess I got my answer.

It's ok... and just because he passed some police/security without being stopped doesn't mean anything. There are cars and other vehicles constantly going around Perimeter Road at these times, but the difference is that they are authorized to do so, as they are either employees, construction workers, etc... sometimes it's hard to tell whether you are one of these people or just an overzealous fanboy that would do anything to be the first to post a testing video on CP Place. ;)

Well, Employees do have parking stickers. So in theory the police could very well tell if this was an authorized vehichle or not if they cared.

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

This time of year, not all the employees have stickers yet... If you're just processing in and you're driving around the Point to Wardrobe, you probably won't have a sticker on your car yet because you need to get the form from your manager and the sticker itself from the toll booth. I'm absolutely sure that the police care about trespassers, but it's hard to enforce something like that especially during the day.

People just need to respect boundaries. "An honest person is honest if they do the right thing when no one else is watching."

So there you have it. Lee and Heero get it.

You should see the crybaby hate mail I got over this (from adults... not teens). Some people absolutely refuse to understand or see my point of view. Worse they go on and on about how I have a big ego, or I'm a control freak, or I'm unprofessional... whatever.

What they'll never understand is how delicate my relationship with the park is. They've never really embraced the Internet the way I think they should. They like to have tight control over everything they can, instead of letting us post construction tour photos, publicity stills, etc. They're a little more liberal these days, but six years ago if you even mentioned the park on the Internet they'd try to think of some excuse to get you to take stuff down. Regardless, I need to respect their wishes to remain in good standing with them. Allowing the distribution of media obtained by trespassing is not a good idea.

As of May 4, you can post whatever media you want, though keep in mind we still don't allow site plugs (spamming) in the forums. That has been a rule now for five years, since day one.

Jeff summed up up everything I too have been frustrated with the last few days. Were Not Nazis in the way we help Jeff Moderate the Forum. Its just knowing whats right and wrong. I don't blame you peeps for not always knowing that but at least respect that we do! The emails I got as well were not very nice over this and a bit discouraging.

I Met Brittney! Shes SOOOOOO Cool!

Can I get an AMEN for Brother Jeff!

People "just because CP Police didn't stop you" doesn't make it right. As adults we should know what is RIGHT.

The "THEY DIDN'T STOP ME SO IT MUST BE OK" attitude shouldn't work as an "excuse"...and if that is the way you feel, once someone (JEFF) points out the problems with this you should accept the fact and move on.

BTW, if you want to see a GREAT video of a rollback, captured LEGALLY, watch/check out FOX 8 in Cleveland...They ran a story last night and again this AM regarding the Safety testing that is being done before any human riders ride TTD and the vidoe showed a rollback as the ride first warmed up.

Just in case anyone wanted to know, when the park opens this season, all video taping in the park is ILLEGAL. In their brochure, CP states that you are not permitted to use video recording devicees in less you get permission from the park.
Are you sure it didn't say that video taping is only illegal while on rides? That has always been the deal. I don't think they they would illegalize all video taping in the park. That's just not right.
How are they going to stop me from recording if my digital camera records video and audio but looks like a regular digital camera, not a video camera?

I remeber reading in a brochure about having to have permission to film rides but I am still looking for it. Also, last season, my dad was filming Power Tower while in line for it and a staff guy told us that we aren't aloowed to film it.
Sounds good to me, I think you guys have done a great job with the site, sorry to hear about those that are a little less enthusiastic about what youve been doing.

[Now] I totally understand why it was taken down, I just had a misconception about what was aloud there and what wasn't.

Keep up the good work, guys! :)

That staff guy was wrong. In general, there are no rules against video taping. Exceptions include no video at Snoopy Rocks On Ice and, of course, on rides.

I've video taped at CP many times. I'm sure you are misreading a bit, they are probably saying you are not allowed to take pictures or video on the rides.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

There is no video recording in the queues either. I learned that last year while trying to get video of Mantis. You can't get video of that ride from anywhere else but the queue! I wrote the park and they told me that video cameras are not permitted past ride entrances.

Last year some employees seemed a bit overzealous in enforcing some of the picture and video rules. I got asked to stop taking pics from that bench in front of Mantis' loop! Turns out that the employee was indeed wrong in asking me to quit (he told me no photography of any ride), but imagine my surprise when he told me that.

I doubt the Point would stop you from videotaping your vacation or your kids riding their first ride or whatever.
