No rides for dad

Bit of trivia--the state of Mass. concluded in their investigation that although "girth" was a contributing factor to the guy being thrown from the Sixflags NE ride in May 2004, it was the ride's attendant that was negligent in either not turning the guy away, or locking him down under the T-bar properly. .

Contributing factor is girth!! and another option was to turn the guy away! Kinda of hurts your argument plw dont you think?

Some rides you can ride and some you will be turned away because of your size. Did they turn you away on all rides? nope so end of story.

Um, if you get turned away from Magnum I reckon you are getting turned away from most, if not all, of the coasters.

*not saying I agree with plw at all, just saying...

**I saw a guy two weeks ago who couldn't fit in the sky ride...it looked so sad.

I still haven't seen any good reasons not to relocate the test seats outside the gates, many of them are staffed at each ride right now by an attendant. Think of all the money CP could save by only having one attendant for all the seats--

Here are some good reasons!

1) Ride attendants don't soley watch the test seats. They also make sure guests don't bring things they shouldn't bring onto the ride, check kid heights, sign times for guests with the special access pass, guard the entry when the ride is down and answer guest questions.

2) If seats are relocated to the main gate... then there are no test seats at the actual RIDE. People will enter the line without knowing if they can fit or not and be extremely agitated after they wait in line for an hour and can't ride. This happens anyway with seats available.

3) This goes along with above, but what about those entering from the other gates? Marina, resort, beach... these guests wouldn't have a chance to test any seats.

4) Also with #2... Just because seats are available at the gate doesn't mean people will attempt to try them out. People still enter lines without testing seats at the ride entry.

5) Plus the supervision issue at the gate. Just having seats available wouldn't be enough, they'd probably need a couple people to monitor the seats to assist guests and keep away wild chidren, especailly on busy days.

Not to mention the fact of how messed up it is for someone to test out a seat, find they don't fit, and then tell their family "eff it, we're going home!" That seems selfish to me. Even if I couldn't ride anything I'd probably still want my children to have a good time.

Cedar Point goes above and beyond to accommodate as many people as possible. There are MANY nonriders who visit the park... parents and grandparents with smaller children, pregnant women, those with certain disabilties/injuries/conditions. They all pay full price, and still seem to enjoy their time there. It's the EXPERIENCE as a whole.

I was at the park yesterday, only rode 3 rides (one of them for the whole day, mind you) and I feel that I had an enjoyable day. Hell, even if STR hadn't opened, and just cycled all day, I'd have enjoyed watching and taking pictures.

I'm happy I got on Maverick, as that and STR were my only goals, aside from the charity event. I managed to do both of those things, and if I'd have paid for the day, I'd have been OK with it, because I enjoyed the experience.

@plw: At the end of the day, you did check CP's policies, so you must have suspected that you would have some problems on some of the rides. If you are a large person you HAVE to know that you may have some issues with some of the rides even without checking on a parks policies. You keep saying that the belt lengths are different and not standard. Well, yes they are on different rides. Each manufacturer uses different recommendations. I will give you that the belts should be the same on all seats of all cars of the same ride. Withn the policy clearly documented, you will not get a refund, nor should you. You should take this up with the person who can solve this. YOU!

Why ride coasters? Becuse there is NOTHING better to do than riding a coaster!

i'm a 46" waist and weighed in at about 270 last time i went to CP and literally had not ONE issue occur. lucky? maybe. lol this year i've only put on about 15 extra pounds. (boo)if i couldn't have fit on any of the rides, i would have found a way to enjoy my time, regardless. but IT IS WHAT IT IS! and i agree, there are lots more things to do at the park than just ride the rides. enjoy the time with whoever you go with, and don't look at it as a let down! hate to sound corny, but the only thing preventing you from having a good time was yourself.

I wasn't able to fit on Millenium Force or TTD for about 3 years due to weight. The past two years I've fit no problem. It's a really good feeling. Lose some weight, be happy about it!

I stay away from the test seats. Take a chance wait in line. The ride op will help out and get that seat belt fastened.
I weigh 235 lbs. with a 44" waste and I only fit because of the ride ops help.
