I can understand your concern about captives. While normal earrings have sharp pins on them that could potentially hurt you or someone else if they fell out, a captive has no sharp objects and essentially can't fall out. When I had 6 GA in my ears there would have been no way I was taking them out.

As far as lip and eyebrow piercings, you don't have to take them out. Could you imagine if you had to take out all piercings including nipples and others down south?

I ended up leaving it in on thursday when i was there. My hair hides it so no one said anything to me about it. Early in the ride [i think it was the turn after the drop] i kind of hit enough to put my hands up to cushion my head a bit. The tops of my ear was right there in the restraint.
But then again I hit it on TTD too.... guess its all how you ride.

Beware slight nipple torture in certain circumstances. That's all I'm gonna say.
This almost made me spit my drink out..! On Wednesday while waiting for the front of a Maverick train, I witnessed a fairly large woman with rather generous breasts trying to press the restraint down over her chest. She did eventually succeed, but it could not have been very comfortable!!

The earing policy doesn't bother me. I have had uncomfortable experiences on (I forgot which) a GL coaster and especially on Mantis. Actually, I refuse to ride Mantis now w or w/o earings because of the head-bashing. I don't wear any earings to parks anymore, and this way I know I won't accidentally lose any either. I can only wear quality gold or silver due to a metal allergy so all my goods are pretty pricey. Replacing my stuff would be a pain in the arse as far as my wallet is concerned.
Do not mess with dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
Just to update everyone, Maverick is now only suggesting people take out their earrings, not requiring it. Ride on!

And where exactly did you hear this from?

Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-
You "must" take earings out to ride.
You "must" keep arms down at all times.
What's CP's definition of "must"?

I have earrings that are captive beads and you can take them out and put them in without tools. It's hard, but I do it all the time.

While you have captives, I doubt they are 6 GA. If they were, you'd need pliers to remove the ball.

I cant recall, it was either the second or third train, but on Maverick's opening they waited a good three minutes for some lady to take out her earings and give them to tony *** Edited 6/4/2007 3:53:47 PM UTC by coasterbun***
There was someone on the train yesterday who had (sorry i don't know the terminology), one of the gauged loops inside his ear, and it was literally 1.5 - 2 inches in diameter. He had to remove it for the ride, and I must say that all that skin to just hanging there without the loop was rather revolting... It must have felt interesting to feel that flapping at 70 mph...

I think you're talking about an eyelet or a plug, Josh.
They just either pop out or unscrew. What I'm referring to is a captive bead ring. It would be like the largest size you see in the picture. You would not be able to remove these without ring openers and closers.

From one of the ride hosts as I was standing in line waiting to ride.
I believe it was the eyelet... Thanks for the visual reference... I learn something new every day.

Oh its clear its liability that is for sure; but some people try and sue (sp?) anyway. At a rollerskating rink you can put up a sign that says skate at your own risk but people still try and find a way to get behind the rules. Am I contradicting myself again? My brain is so split in two about everything!
May I remind everyone that you can't waive negligence. Just because you put up a sign warning people you're not responsible for something that you clearly are responsible for will not cut it. If the roller rink says skate at your own risk, and the roof collapses, you better believe they're gonna be held responsible.
The signs and policy are more than likely just a part of Cedar Point's anticipated defense of negligence claims if someone got hurt wearing earings.
