I admit to being the kind of guy that pays the for the pass, dining, and drink and pretty much doesn't spend much beyond that. I might get a few pieces of merchandise through the year.
But I certainly don't think that because I would rather not spend money for basically a convenience for me (though not really cause no phone to use in line) means I don't belong in an amsusemt Park.
Sacrificing playing video games to ride roller coasters.
If CP or any Park are BS about Cell Phones Falling out of a person's pocket. STOP IT!! Think of any object from a person on the ride. Glasses, Ear Rings or anything like that can fall off and or might hit a person waiting line looking up at the train going around, and an object like them can hit a person's EYE or any part of their body. With this Subject NO CELL PHONES at ALL!! ADD "NO GLASSES without STRAPS, EAR RINGS, or a HAT" put away. Going on to think of a non - rider, and it might do the same too. Have a Great Day, and I will have to say my Birthday is today. I hope to be at the Park, and see all what it going on "WITH NO CELL PHONES" I HAVE A FLIP PHONE". If I had the Money I would tell my family to buy me some BINS to out in the COASTERS to We don't to be Worried. LOL
Off topic, but your random use of capital letters facinates me.

The lockers are like every other machine in the park and require maintenance, replacement and initial investment. The all day deal is a bargain.
The same is true for toilets, yet they don't charge for those.

I don't agree with this new policy. But, like security theater, many of us didn't agree with that either but in the end, we just had to bend over and take it, which is likely what we will have to do here. For now, its just one ride but I would be pretty upset if they did it on all rides. And there's other objects that can fly out of pockets like wallets, car keys, loose change, etc. Sounds to me like they're just doing this to prevent people from trying to record their own unauthorized POVs. And I don't think there will be near enough lockers if there was a full queue. A nice gesture would've been make the lockers free for a limited duration so this wouldn't sound like a money grab.

That is against the law. Or they probably would.
Edit: many of these laws have since been repealed, such as in Ohio. In 2007, legislators rescinded ORC Ordinance 4101:1-29-02.6.2, the ban on pay facilities, paving the way for operators to charge for public restroom use.[8]

On most of the coasters, glasses and hats must have a strap in order to ride with them on. They will tell you to take them off. Ear rings are fine, but some rides with have signs advising the rider to take them out. Rougarou has signs in the queues telling riders to take out earrings if they have large hoops.

Because we all know getting hit with a cell phone is the equivalent of being hit with a cinder block.

Guy in line ahead of me first time I rode was way ahead of you on that idea. He was really putting his all into it too.
Back in the day they charged a dime for the use of a toilet stall. There was a lock mechanism that accepted a dime to.unlock.

CP Rundown on Facebook posted a picture of a new sign with slightly different rules. This one says you can't take phones or loose articles on the ride. So is a wallet, car key, or season pass in a zippered pocket a loose article? I could probably leave my phone in the car but I need something.
Say NO to Maverick!
I'll be keeping an eye on this the next few weeks, my wife and I are flying up from Texas to have two full days in the park August 7th and 9th, with fast lane plus passes already bought!
We always use zipper pockets so I'm curious to see how this will play out. I understand CP wanting to be safe but not allowing phones at ALL even in the queue is just damn retarded. They should for SURE have free bins to just throw your stuff in as you get on. Simplest solution. They just want more money.
Worse comes to worse we'll pay the $2 and with fast passes should be able to get at least a few rides in those 2 hours, and rinse and repeat when we come back for some night rides.
^^ From Cedar Point's website:
Loose articles are defined as cell phones, keys, hats, cameras, stuffed animals, umbrellas, beverage containers, personal entertainment devices, purses, backpacks, etc.

The implication here is that the electronic device in your pocket is literally the only way you can keep entertained in a social setting? I recommend trying to engage in a conversation. :)
I'm wondering if SV will be the only ride that gets this treatment, or if this is the first step to a broader implementation. I agree that it's frustrating, if you have pockets that truly secure a phone. But it's hard to decide where the line is drawn in terms of truly being "secured." As others have said, the biggest issue is likely people willingly pulling their phones out. And if they had a zero-tolerance policy (automatic removal from the park, or worse), I think people would start to get the message. But that's a moot point now, at least in the case of SV.
