Night Time Lighting?

Please feel free to correct me, I believe L&T (Or is it LT) did the lighting on Millennium Force. Have they been contracted for Wicked Twister? I guess a better question is "What will the lighting be like?" Thanks.

I think it would be kewl 2 have blue lighting along the track, and a motion sensor so that when a train runs the circuit, the area it takes up is yellow, so it looks like a yellow streak along a blue streak (no pun intended)! Cali Screamin does that in it's loop at DCA...

I think it would be cool to have yellow strobe lights hitting the track, and plain blue lights hitting the supports. Really dim white lights would look cool in the station.

Actually, High End Systems did the lighting for MF.  Check out their webpage with the MF info here:

Here's to hoping that they are hired again, I'd say they have turned quite a few heads with MF's amazing night-look.

High Ends would be sweet beaming up again each spike. Night rides would Rule going down the end spike with the lights beaming up at you .

I prefer the lights on older coaster such as Magnum, Blue Streak, and Raptor, you cannot see MF's lights far away, but I wouldn't mind the blue track with a yellow light on the train.

That's a lawsuit just waiting to happen. Do you realize how much light is put out from the system on Millennium Force?

How about on the side where you face up shine the lights up the spike, and on the side facing the ground have the lights shine down the spike.
On VertiGo they have those lights facing the riders. On one of the Millennium Mania days when we were riding it at night I rode a few times where we were facing down on the lights. Personally, It wasn't bad at all. All you would see was whatever color it was on in a little spot.

Or, If you've ever looked off the side of Millennium Force at night. It's not bad at all.

So, I don't think there would be any lawsuits.

The lights used on Millennium Force have been discontinued.

Millennium Force uses the EC-1 lights(according to their site) and those lights have been discontinued(according to thier site).

Yeah, that's the best part about riding the big MF'r at night is the drop looking straight down at the unit on the last lit tower .(. tower 8 think). It's so cool! ;)

The High End light's are actualy used moslty for architecture, and people look down at these units all the time.

I looked at the site and they no longer make the same ones on MF anymore, but have a new unit (EC-2) that has more output and whatnot. Yum! They look like the same ones used on Vertigo.

I always get beat !

What are you talking about? Law suit for what?

I was disappointed that High End actually pulled out of exhibiting at IAAPA this year. I got to see the fixtures up close last year, and surprise, the internal mechanism is the same one found in a variety of their stage lights (the Cyberlights, I think). The intensity really comes from the very saturated filters, and combinations thereof. From a brightness standpoint, you're looking at the same stuff found on stage at your favorite concert.

This is America. The land where you can sue for someone calling you a name, which makes me very very sad.
OK, slightly off the topic, but rather than starting a whole new thread, on the website listed above, it mentioned that MF would be lit up with holiday colors around that time of year.  Has anyone seen this?  I'm just curious, I've never heard anyone talking about that.

Mr. Skyward is my hero.

These lights aren't headlights; you won't be blinded from them. The light cone spreads out so much, you won't even know it's shining on you unless you look directly at the fixture.

I had a cool idea, you focus a spot to go directly straight up the middle of the spiral. The flat side with the track will be lit up, and the rest of the 4 sides of the track remain un-lit. Anyone know what I mean?

Have you ever looked down towards the ground on MF's lift at night? Those are some really blinding lights! You don't have to look at them directly to get it either. I did look into them directly...and let's just say that from the first drop to the tunnel anything that I could have seen otherwise wasn't there. :)

They should shine bright lights at you so you cant see, and then you launch out of the lights into darkness, YEAH!!!!!

Power tower, i don't think that would be a good idea...lol :)

I am though in agreeance with the concept..you could do the streaking neon's that they do in the station of MF within the station in addition to the other ideas that are suggested. :)

Hope everybody had a good thanksgiving. doug

Force was cycling red and green during last year around Christmas, which honestly looks positively AWESOME from a distance. I also loved the lighting cycling red, white, and blue right after 9/11...GREAT stuff..a giant coaster monument to this awesome country.
