You know things are changing at Cedar Point, and it's getting a little frustrating. Seems like they are nickel and diming people now.
Example, they are starting to charge $0.99 for a cup of water! Seriously, come on....water. (obviously it is in demand today)
Another example, they would not let small, I mean small, back packs on Gatekeeper anymore to put in the bins. According to the team leader those bins are for sun glasses and hats only. You must rent a locker for the small backpacks now in order to ride. I am not talking big bulky back packs, small compact ones, about the size of a purse.
These are my opinions only, observations. I am a platinum pass holder and have been for a few years now. Just seems silly to charge for water and to have the huge bins for glasses and hats only.
Hmm...Just had a free glass of water there a few days ago -- and I have never been stopped on gatekeeper from taking on my camera bag, about the size of a small backpack....so I am not sure where this is coming from. I'm a platinum pass holder too...would love to hear more about your specific experience because it seems one-off...
I agree with the overarching sentiment of this thread. Ouimet seems primarily focused on finding ways to extract more money out of guests through added "services" or "tiers" available at CP (e.g. the explosion of the "pay to move to the front of the line" options, preferred parking, etc.). I don't blame Ouimet for that; he's a businessman, and of course he's going to look for ways to boost the bottom line. That having been said, from a customer's point of view, I have developed newfound appreciation for Kinzel... ha
Thrills Around the Corner!
Oh please. Kinzel's approach was more of nickel-and-diming the park itself, which is why we had Disaster Transport being an eyesore for so long and why CP and Kinzel's Cedar Fair had the reputation for half-assed theming and simply getting rid of things that became hard to maintain or broke down.
I'd much rather pay a little extra to see the extra love given to the park than see the park cheap on the experience so I can save ten bucks.
