He is only one man and one man does not make those kind of decisions. Did he have input? Sure, but he is no God like you make him out to be.
I think you grossly underestimate just how hands-on he can be.

No, Jeff, I don't. From what I have seen, he is VERY hands-on. I just doubt that he is the sole decision maker in muti million dollar inprovements. Wouldn't you agree?
If he retires, does that mean Cedar Point will fail and go away? I don't think so.

You are definately underestimating him. The job of the big man of any company is to be the desicion maker of what direction they want to go. Did he design and build Magnum and Millenium himself? No, but hes the reason they went up, its his vision that is followed. Obviously CP won't fail and go away, but its always important to have a good main guy.
When Kinzel walks in a room in 1987 and says we should break a record with a giant coaster gets his team moving. It was his idea, but his team tells him how they can do it or if it's possible. I'm sure that could've been the case for Magnum.

I had my University of Toledo hoodie on today in the park, and Mr. Kinzel walked up to me and my girlfriends and started talking to us and asked me how i like the city of toledo. He also asked us about or day and how the park has been so far this season. He is a very nice man, and i really hope to see him stay for many more years. He is very hands on, with the park and with the public. He gets out there and interacts in ways many people wouldn't when it comes to customer satisfaction.

Wow, it's cool that the man actually walked up to you and not vise versa (sp?). I really hope to meet him someday.

I think that him walking the park every day is what really stands out the most. Can you tell me the last time you've seen the manager of Kmart or Walmart asked how your day was going? It's very, very rare. I've seen it done at a couple restaurants (B&D's Mongolian BBQ come to mind), but not really anywhere else. Now don't just think manager, but CEOs (the top dogs) asking how your day is going. That never happens.
Kinzel sticks out of the crowd of "rich, old, white, men" and gets out there and sees first hand what is doing well and what is not. I think someone coming up to you and asking how I'm doing brightens my day up a little bit more than it would have and that's what really counts.
Holiday World is known for this sort of thing and that has brought them sucess. HW is a small family park, and the fact that CP has a similar thing going on with one of the largest parks in the world is very good.
This is one more reason why Kinzel is and has been perfect for the job.
