News: Kalahari in Sandusky to become largest indoor water park

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but Kalahari is expanding it's indoor waterpark by 93,000 sq ft and the new section will be open in christmas 2007. The website states that it'll be the largest indoor waterpark in america. Go check out the details at www.kalahariresort.com. I wish Castaway Bay would expand it's waterpark.

How long till Cedar Fair starts selling vacation ownerships?

Sounds like an AWESOME expansion!

Now if they could only do something about the lifeguards.....

Flair? I wonder how many pieces are required... er, rather: encouraged.

my goodness this expansion is awesome! a new flowrider, a huge wave pool, a new giant spa, one of those toilet bowl lookin slides, 4 body slides, another basketball pool, another tree house with a bucket, a new restaurant and bar! They threw in everything!

Thank god they are adding a see through roof though. That's the one thing castaway had on Kalahari is that it's brighter in castaway.

Its a new roof that allows sunlight to enter?? Like a giant skylight? Or glass roofs (that have been used before).

What's their next innovation going to be? Wet water?

I did find one bonus under the Flowrider rules though:

11. The flowing water may pull of bathing suit tops, bottoms and loose clothing.

It should say

11. The flowing water WILL pull of bathing suit tops, bottoms and loose clothing.

Take it from someone who is addicted to the place, you better have all your drawstrings tied really tight if you're a guy and if you're a girl... you need to wear a t-shirt or you will lose your clothes.

This expansion is awsome! I remember seeing those same drawings inside the park operations and general managers office when I went in December 05.

I was waiting for this expansion, since their website had the building with extra slides in the back since the website launched.

I doubt Castaway Bay will expand, since of the land.

Wow. That place actually looks REALLY cool. Their rooms and "kondos" are sorta blah, but the water park looks amazing.

I disagree with the rooms, I think there very nice with the theming and size, I have been to all of the indoor water parks in Sandusky, and Kalahari is the best in rooms, water park EXT. In my oppion.

They have a much nicer website than I thought. Gives a lot of detail, pictures and videos even. I'm impressed.

CP should create an indoor amusment park with an indoor coaster and other rides. My 2 cents! Year round CP fun! What do you think?

Why not just put a dome over the whole park? That will solve all of our problems. Oh but wait.. then that would restrict the height of future attractions. What are we going to do now?

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Simple. Just poke holes where the future rides protrude, then enclose all the exterior trackage in self-contained glass tunnels. Plexiglass obviously -- we wouldn't want to be unsafe.

Then the whole peninsula would look like the world's largest hamster cage. ;)

Keep it seasonal. I personally enjoy it more when that time of year comes and CP opens another great season. It gives you more to look forward to and appreciate the park more. While I could go without rain and wind (when it gets to strong), I do enjoy my share of sunlight and fresh air. Winter sucks and it just gives you an excuse to travel elsewhere (California and Florida have a lot to offer) for your thrill craving. You can also realize why you like CP so much too.
