Formal announcement to be made for Cedar Points plans for 2002 will be in early October 2001.(maybe later)

It seems likely to me that if CP is doing something major, they'd announce it in late July or early August, just like they did with Millennium Force on July 22. I'm not saying you're wrong because I have no clue, but they usually only make little announcements on October.

oKAY i HAVE IT tHIS IS THE YEAR OF THE BOARDWALK!!!!Well relocations of rides and improvements....Also Hypersonic xlc didnt take long to build its practically done they can build a Thrustair even with that late of a announcement.

I believe that! I can see the "Boardwalk" being build this coming winter. We'll just have to wait and see, like Millennium Force. Let's all look for major clues through out the season. I also want to hear from Dan and Jeff.

I hope I see many a plank of wood come october.

Sounds good, I'm with SP2000andBeyond with this one. I think it probably will be the Boardwalk project, and I hope a woodie.

I simply sent a quick email using the pr department address at Cp.com and he responded.

I wasn't a member of this site, but from what I remember about the timing of the MF announcement, wasn't track spotted just a few days before? I think CP wanted to get it out quickly so it wouldn't lose thunder. (See: SFGAdv's Nitro)

Plus, when did construction on MF start? Maybe since building the damn thing took so long, they wanted to announce right at the beginning of construction to "surprise" everyone. (Even though everyone expected something big anyway.)

Ummm, I think Millennium Force was announced a year earlier. Of course we knew about more than a day before they started building it. There was a sign by Mantis in 99 saying it was coming. And it really wasn't that long to build either. *** This post was edited by force312 on 3/13/2001. ***

It was officially announced in late July, with Land Clearing I remember starting right after that in September. Not sure when they started pouring the footers, but I think it was still rather early.

Where did you hear that no one knew till a day before and it was a "surprise".

My sis works in the office At CP and she got the papers telling everything about Mill. Force in April or May telling all the stats and etc.
She tells me everything thats going to happen and she said there is no boardwalk project at all
and there r minor relocs not huge like everyone is saying. and the next coaster is a steel one like a wild mouse or something maybe in the next couple of years. she doesn't know for sure because right now the talk about the Roller Coaster is only among the VP's. But she'll tell me as soon as she finds out

From the way CP2000andBeyond talks, this TA2K and CCI jibberish isn't looking very good.

riding the train in late may of 99, me and a friend were wondering why they were clearing trees in the area that is now the mf station,till the official announcement though we didn't know anything.

OKay you guys its Greg That was my Friend and his sis does work there but like That just about ruined it.Im sure we will see a ta2k.It will be very tall Were trying to get his sis to spill the beans but To tell ya the truth i dont think she knows all the details yet...

I must play devil's advocate here guys, and say that NOT MANY people within the park (unless higher ups) ACTUALLY know what is going to happen. The TA2K and CCI rumors maybe very strong, but at this point, there are still just RUMORS. We will get our official announcement in a few months, and then our speculation will end...at least for a short time :)
