News: Cheaper to eat at the Point, too

I wouldn't count on the Perch to be very good. I don't mean to be a booger, but I'd bet they are the cheapest they could buy.

I'll try them, but don't hold out much hope, given their past food performance.

If im really that thirsty, I can go back up to my hotel room and drink the $1.00 pop I bought.

If you're "really thirsty" in the summer heat, you'd probably be better off drinking the *Free* water. ;)

Why are they always more expencive in amusement parks and sports games?

Because, for the most part, you are a captive audience. You have no choice as to where to get your drinks at ball game, or a concert, or (for the most part) at an amusement park ( until now anyway ) so they can charge pretty much whatever they want. It sucks, but thats capitalism, if you think the prices are too high, just don't drink anything.

I applaud the efforts of CP trying to keep people coming back by lowering prices of different things, more than likely due to the gas prices shooting up. I believe their efforts will cause CP to continue to be successful.

I wouldn't care if the prices shot up over there, I'd still go. I might have to save up a little more than I currently do, but I would still find a way.

I don't think this has anything to do with gas prices. I do think this has to do with someone in management looking at a study that says "If someone THINKS they are getting a better value, they will actually spend more on lower prices items than they would have at the higher price." I'll be very curious to look at the attendance numbers, as well as the in park per capita spending. I'm willing to bet the latter actually increases.

Both will probably increase, but I wouldn't be so quick to say these price adjustments aren't related to gas prices. The travel/tourism industry was indeed affected last summer, and is expected to be affected this summer as well - due to ever-increasing gas prices.

CP's management is likely hoping the lower gate & food prices will be enough to offset (at least in the consumer's mind) the higher gas prices, thus getting as much or more people through the gate as they had in previous years. Of course, once they're in the park and saving a dollar here, and a couple more dollars there, they are very likely to dump that "extra" money somewhere else before leaving.

I think these changes have a lot to do with the gas prices. The admission change especially. The food prices are part of CP getting people to buy more at better value.

It is nice to see them actually dropping food prices. My family has not bought a meal at Cp for nearly a decade. We usually pack and leave the cooler in the pavilion or take to trip to Applebees on 250. Not that Applebees is cheap or anything, it is a better meal for the money and we don't feel like we are being gouged. Maybe the suits at the park are starting to realize that they will actually make more money if the costs are lower because more people will decide to just stay at the park. Just my $.02!

Hooray! I did not realize that! How did I miss that piece of good news?

Walt also said - "Pete and Tank led that charge."

Well, if it made any difference at all, I am glad to have been at the front of the battle line for that one. I hope they do a good job with it. It will be one of the things I definitely look forward to when I am in the park!

Well, obviously food cost is a major concern, and they probably won't go with fresh fillets breaded on-site (although that would be the best!). I imagine it will be a pre-breaded, IQF product, which can still be decent if done well. The biggest thing is to keep the oil hot enough, so the perch does not get soggy. I also hope they have enough common sense to segregate the potato and fish fryers, so there is no cross-over. I mean, you can use the potato oil for the fish, but after that, it should not be used for potatoes again. Like anything, time will tell. However, I will say that overall, CP seems to be waking up to the quality idea again, after a certain "bottoming-out". Let's hope for the best!

I wonder if the price of dippin dots went down?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
