Instead of a left on Pipe St, go to the light and take a left onto Remington Ave. It will take you to Cleveland Rd. with a light. So you wont have to worry about that left turn.
Well, I haven't taken that route since back when I was an amature, but it might clog up the lesser known routes a little bit. :(

Pipe St. and Remington are reasonable so long as there is no train coming.
And be aware that when trains come through there, they come through FAST.

Would you mind sharing that with me Bender? I come from the west almost everytime seeing as I'm usually coming from Indiana. But if I don't figure out the back roads I may be using the old Chausse (sp?) frequently off of Rt. 6, because I do know a quick way to get there.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
All anyone has to do is look at a map of Sandusky. If you don't have a map, look at one online. You can find your own route that way. That is how I found all my shortcuts way back before I moved to the Sandusky area.

I totally agree, that left turn from Pipe onto Cleveland can be difficult in heavy traffic, albeit the Reminington light is very short.
Heck if they want people to really enjoy Sandusky, they should just have them go all the way on 250, west on 6, south on 4, east on 2, then get off at rye beach! Anyway I think the mall, restaurants, and gas stations leech enough business (or is that Perkins technically?)

Just teasin'...on weekends I end up coming in on rte 2 and get off at the rte 6 exit and follow 6 to Monroe St. and turn right on Monroe. This goes through town to 1st street which ends at the causeway. Most follow 6 further downtown and out again. I take rte 4 to Monroe on weekdays to avoid the RR xing near the coal dock, get caught by some pretty slow trains on 6 from time to time. For a neat scenic route, get off at the Bayview exit (rte 269) just across the rte 2 causeway over Sandusky River/Bay. Go left then right on Barrett (this will merge with 6 near Margaritaville). This will take you through some cool coastal marshes and you will likely spot an eagle or 2 or more, sometimes sitting in trees next to the road. Look to the right and you'll see a nest (far off in the marsh). Egrets, herons and an assortment of waterfowl can be seen as well (and others). I take this route all the time during the off season and last Monday saw 13 bald eagles within one cluster of trees. So in May, keep an eye on the sky, you will likely see an eagle in the Sandusky area.
I've always come in from route 6 off 2. It's a bit of weaseling in and around (and I don't know the names of the roads), but I always come out on the causeway at the light past Mickey D's.
Of course, closing the Butler St. ramp would force me to find another route if I stay the night in Sandusky.
I still can't believe they'd even consider closing that ramp considering the congestion it will cause on Cleveland Road.
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
The thing is, from Butler Street down Cleveland to Sycamore is just a two way street. Traffic having to merge at the Butler stoplight coming from Cedar Point will congest traffic. Not to mention cars trying to enter/exit the new Marathon gas station when traffic is high at the end of the night. This is flat out stupid if it happens. All of you people on here that have to follow these routes to visit Cedar Point should voice your opinion. E-mail the City. They might think twice about it? Im just glad I don’t commute to that end of town.
