If they close the Buttler Street ramp, what would be the best alternate route to take? I have driven to CP for more than 12 years and that is the only way that I know to get over to Cleveland Road.

I found a shortcut this summer. Coming up 250 from Hwy 2, right after the mall is a road, can't remember the name, but a National City and 5/3 bank is right there. Turn right and follow that to the end, which is Perkins road. Turn left and then turn right at the first light. You'll go down a little neighborhood road, over some RR tracks and out to Cleveland Road. Turn Left and then Castaway Bay and Cedar Point are right there! Hope that helps!

Shh ... only us locals are supposed to know stuff like that.

If they do close the Butler St. ramp, it would look something like this. (Red is the closed road, green is the new route)

Edmon is an idiot. Let's close something that was built to smooth the flow of traffic to CP, inconvenience people, just so some convenient store owner can maybe sell some more cigarettes or beer.

Of course the Butler ramp cuts off traffic from much of Cleveland road, that's what it was designed to do!

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Do we know how long the road will be closed for?

Would it be open by May when the park opens?

It's just an idea at this point. Might never even happen, so there's no point in worrying about right now.

So they build the Butler ramp to relieve congestion on Cleveland road. Which, thanks to CP drivers, was causing locals to not go out to Cleveland road and thus hurting buisness.
Now, they want to close the ramp and force the CP traffic back to Cleveland Rd., even though a very minimal number of those cars may actually decide to stop for anything (they are either on their way to the park and just want to get there, or are on their way home and just want to get there).
This increase in traffic flow will now have the effect on locals of causing them to not want to fight a bunch of traffic just to get a gallon of milk and pint of brandy. Which idiot dreamed up this debacle?

Is the Butler Rd ramp the connecting road from Cleveland Rd to Milan Rd with the Best Western/Perkins on the corner? That would be assinine to close that, it's set up to alleviate traffic during both the CP opening and closing rushes. Granted I'm from western NY, but I visit CP (and usually stay at said Best Western) enough to know the area a bit and that road shouldn't be closed...

That ramp might be effective. But it's kinda ugly.
It's strange CP has never really worked out a more direct route from I-80 after all these years.
I've alway's used Exit 110 and following Route 4 north straight into downtown sandusky. There's less traffic.

I agree, 4 is the best route, until you run into a traffic accident on that 2 lane road before you reach rte. 2. Ugh... been there done that.

I usually try to stop before the traffic accident. Less headaches that way.

How would that affect the traffic coming from Route 2?

Stupid, stupid, stupid. That is all I can say. I hope they come to their senses and realize how asinine that would be.

cyberdman - You do realize that your statement is in reference to politicians. It would cause them extreme physical pain to do anything that even remotely resembled sensible.

Ha Ha. Yes I suppose you are right ... unfortunately.

The second you learn the back roads you will forget about Butler Road, I haven't used it in forever.

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

I come in from Rte 4 down Perkins Ave, cross Milan and turn left on a street called Pipe. It's the one that takes you over the tracks and butts you right into Cleveland Ave. A real time trimmer, provided the traffic on Cleveland isn't too bad, (sometimes that left turn onto Cleveland is a bitch.)
