Newest Rumor

ScreamScape ( http://www.screamscape.com/html/cedar_point.html ) seems to think that it will be until 2007 (Kinzel's retirement year) until we see another coaster at the Po!nt. I know that I don't care, as long as the flat rides keep coming, but do you all think CP is letting us down, with what would be 3 years ('04, '05, and '06) with no coaster??

Last public train of 2005 on MF!

And you believe Screamscape why?

Goodbye MrScott

John

WHY is everyone putting so much stake in Screamscape lately? Screamscape's rumors have been a joke since at least around 1998 when I showed up in the internet coaster scene.

They were a joke then, they were a joke after that, and they are a joke now.

I trust Screamscape about as much as I trust an Intamin T-Bar to safely hold a fat man.

You know what Screamscapes rumors aren't always accurate. I mean I like to check up on them a lot but they predicted a Floorless/flyer for this year, but it turns out that we have MaXair instead. I like the addition of MaXair instead of a coaster this year because that will bring more people back over by Wicked Twister and Disaster Transport.

This rumor to me is a bunch of bologny. Its too early to speculate rumors about whats going in 2006 when we haven't even experienced the 2005 season. I think websites like coasterbuzz and screamscape is just going speculate, but they don't know what Cedar Points future is going to be.

JuggaLotus you can't forget about Woodstock Express in 1999 ;)

I think that giving a break from roller coaster building for a few years isn't all bad. Cedar Point has 16 for us to enjoy for the time being. I say bring on the flat rides. They have outdone themselves in the coaster department most recently in 2000 and 2003 so why not bring in some awesome flat rides to have more selection throughout the park.

Yes, please "let us down" the next 2 years. We have plenty of coasters for now. We're spoiled enough by them. Even if we lose the record, I don't even care. As Vince982 said, bring on the flat rides. It'll all just build up the anticipation for a coaster in '07 that'll blow us away. I'm sure we won't be disappointed. And I'm SURE it'll be worth the wait.

any know who is close behind cp with the most coasters record?

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

That would be Six Flags Magic Mountain.

how many are they at?

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

15 rollercoasters. I think it's because they're was one coaster that was not considered a coaster. I can't remember which coaster that was but I remember thats what happened.

As far as coasters, I think we're good. Maybe take out Cedar Creek Mine ride and put something more thrilling in it's place. Even a kid gets bored on that.

Ouch that's ugly! I read Screamscape like I read "Weekly World News" or "The Globe". It's entertaining but rarely factual.
I'm still blissed out every time I ride MF so I'm not concerned with these rumors. As a matter of fact I think my New Year's Resolution this year will be to stay away from Dragster so I can spend more quality time on The Force. ;)
Magic Mountain's 16th coaster was Scream(a B&M floorless). Shawn Meyer, the ride that some didn't consider a coaster was "Superman The Escape". As far as I'm concerned if that wasn't a coaster than neither was "Wicked Twister".

Dragster Launches-52

Personally I believe this rumor could be true. Definitely not because it was posted on Screamscape, but because of my own observations.

And Macho Nachos...I couldn't disagree with you more. I'm lead to believe that S:TE and WT are both coasters by definition...but for the sake of us all, let's not get into that. ;)

Top Five:
1)TTD 2)MF 3)Magnum 4)Raptor 5)WT

1870 I do think that they are both coasters. I was pointing out how silly it was to argue the fact.

SFMM has 16 coasters, same as CP...

Superman The Escape, Riddlers Revenge, Batman The Ride, X, Deja Vu, Scream!, Psyclone, Collossus, Goliath, Ninja, Revolution, Gold Rusher, Flashback, Goliath Jr, Viper, and Canyon Blaster...

As far as how many actually operate on any given day, thats another story all together...

ROUNDABOUND.

I don't feel that CP is letting us down at all. CP needs some good flat rides to compliment their awesome coaster collection. The only flat I ride is chaos. I will be there to ride maXair next season.

MM has 16 coasters but Flashback is closed May-September because of the waterpark.

<Matt>
101 on Magnum and counting...

In my new guiness world records 2005 it says cp and mm tie with 16 coasters.

As for not getting a coaster for the next 2 years, I am compleatly fine. I say put in maxair then next year do another big flatride and by that time cp will have built up enough revenue from not building a $25,000,000 coaster that the next year we may see something that will just shatter all expectations and we might see a feat of engineering that may never get topped. Or we may see another coaster like jr. gemini. (wink)

As for the record of most coasters I see it like this SFMM is going for short term, as in building parking lot coasters and other mideocre (sp) coasters. Cp takes there time and goes for quality. I am just fine with losing the record for most as long as we are given the best possible coaster. I would rather be on the best roller coaster in the world than to just say i went to the park with the most roller coasters.

I think Woodstock Express was built in 2001. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
