newbie here.

hey everyone. i'm new to CP this summer. i haven't decided if i'm going to work or not but i'm 85% sure that's what i'm doing. just curious. how often are the ride nights? and is it possible to work 70/80 hour per week all summer? thanks!
During the summer there's usually a ride night once a week. Varys on the weather and if the ride breaks down in the mean time also..It is possible to work 70 a week if not 80. It depends what dept your in and how well staffed it is..

Hey James, well I hope you do decide to come to CP this summer, even if you end up not liking it it is definetly an experience you'll never forget. You could certainly work 70-80 hours a week if you want, because even if you can't get that many hours in your position, you can always find another department that needs some extra help :)

I do have Lifeguarding Certification. Is it possible to do that (Lifeguarding) too? I'm scheduled to work in food services at a busy restaurant. I'm being anonmyous about this. :-) Btw, my name isn't james dean. lol. Which department do you think is the best? I'd appreciate an unbiased opinion on that one. Thanks!
Everyone has their own opinions on which department is the best. So thats not a very good question to ask, lol! Everyone defends their own department and every department has its pros and cons. Do what you want to do, what you think will be the best for you. Your first summer at the point is always the best, make the most of it! Hope to see you there!

If you're working at a busy restaurant, you might not want to lifeguard on top of that because you might be too tired. I know that the CP Lifeguards do have a different certification than the Red Cross certification, plus I'm not too sure you can be a CP lifeguard and work in a resautrant. You could try to find a lifeguard job elsewhere, but I would think that would be too much. Anywhere you work can be fun, what one person likes, another may hate, so it's up to you really!

Back to the Breakers this summer! :)

Yeah, I don't know if you could pull off being a lifeguard and working in a restaurant, although you never know. You could always ask once you get there, if your first job isn't time consuming enough for you. But it would probably be easier for you to work extra hours in another food location.

As for best department, well that would be Environmental Services, hands down. Actually, as Kristin said, everyone's opinion on the best department is usually the one they work for! *L* I've only worked in one department, say I really can't say anything about any of the other ones. Which restaurant are you working in?

It's Johnny Rockets. I'd like a server position but Delilah (sp?) said I could probably "move up" during the summer but now I hear she's "moved up" herself I'm not sure if that's possible. I need to make the big bucks this summer though. Gotta pay for tuition and all that. What's Environmental Services? I'd like to get in 70-80 a week at JR but that seems like it'd be really draining. What's there to do in the downtime anyhow? I read something about the beach? I've only been to CP once and it was a bit windy the day I went so the beach doesn't seem too tempting. Anyhow, got any suggestions on where to live? I want to live as close to the park as possible and the shuttle thing isn't my cup o' tea. Are there any pictures of the housing facilities online? like a personal website or something?
Hi James! I think you can get some excellent information on housing facilities right on Cedar Point's web site. Here is a link to the page on room layouts. Hope that helps!
