NEW WEBCAM POSITION!!

The webcam has been moved!!!

Yep! It's now on the end of Mantis' midcourse brakes and is pointed at the second turn on the island (the over-banked one). Check it out!

Well gee, I wonder who suggested that? ;)

Perhaps they should keep the wide-angle on there so we can see both turns and the cross-over hills.

It's hard to tell what we're really looking at. Could probably get a better view from the top of snake river falls or Gemini of the overall construction. The cam seems too close to the action.

It's definitely a better position, but it needs to be a wider angle.

Maybe a better place would be the top of the Mantis Lift?

I thought that they would put it on the Mantis brake run, but I thought they would do it sooner.
they need to do the wide angle thing or something!!

or just tilt it upward.

I agree that it needs the wide angle lens, but I think the view of the Mantis track is cool too :)

Its ok...I just wish they'd put up somewhere higher for the rest of construction..

I think that we don't see much yet, because they pointed it at a spot where they are still working. That way we can see the construction. People complained about the old location at first too, but I think that we all enjoyed the view once the hill started going up.
They will probably be starting the thrid hill there. That way we can see them start it. They might move it when the track starts to get out of sight.

I really don't like this position. Like what has been said before, it is too close to the construction and it is also very blurry on my screen. I think it needs to be up higher, like on Snake River Falls hill.

No one is ever satisfied. Be glad you can see anything at all. They're certainly not obligated to show you anything.

Onw day they should put it on top of MF lift just so we can see how hi it is

...We hope you have a great day here at Cedar Point America's Rockin' Roller Coast
I don't like the position at all. I've visited the site three times today and just don't like it. I say, put it on top the Gemini hill to get a broad perspective. Half the picture is Mantis track and I can't really see what's going on in the other half.
Hey Bodyinthelagoon, they already started the third hill.

I could care less if there is a webcam or not. I am not online 24 hours a day, constantly hitting "Refresh" on my browser to see what changes have been made so I can be first to post them. There have been some VERY nice pictures taken by Scott at his webpage and some excellent pix on the official site, both of which were far superior to anything the webcam offered. Hell, even Jeff's pix from underneath were far and away better than the webcam at the time. Now that it has been moved, everyone is griping "Ohhh, I can't see anything..... boo hoo....." Give me a break. If the webcam wasn't up, I'm sure someone would have pictures to post that are better than what the webcam offers, and I'm sure someone would have the exact time that the webcam went off. ;P

On a related note, thank god Cedar Point finally posted the pictures of one of the cars. I have NEVER heard so much grovelling in my entire life........ Trust me, I am excited about MF as well, but I am willing to wait until May. I prefer being surprised.

I wouldn't call that "grovelling" Schwabinchen... I prefer to see it as very enthuiastic Cedar Point FANS FIRST!! Don't belittle them because they have a passion for Cedar Point!! Unlike a select few of us who had seen the cars Schwabinchen most had not..I certainly understand the excitment surrounding others who had a urgency to see these prized possesions!! I applaud this passion and hope to see more Surrounding Millennium Force..Remember..I see Cedar Point has something magical that gets inside you and lights you up..Cedar Point is too most of us a very memorable part of their lives which you hope to someday share with your own children and family!! Cedar Point is a place where you can forget all your worries of life and explore another world..This is why so many people on this forum display such excitment towards a subject..not "grovelling"

my $.02 (I'll get off the soapbox now..sorry!!)

A few of you said we should be grateful that CP has a webcam at all, but come on, if it's a bad location, don't have it. I'm not going to go around complaining. Using that logic, let's have the webcam display the pavement all day and be grateful they have the webcam at all. My point is, if you are going to offer it, put it in a good location...or fine, don't have it. No big deal. Like many of you have said, there are tons of pictures out there.

Now I'm sure this thread will be closed because I forget CP's marketing department is not capable of making a mistake.

I won't close this even though I am quite tempted. However, NET, and everyone else, remember this site is a labor of love, handled quite well by Jeff. It is the UNOFFICAL site of CP. If CP wanted to, they have the right and power to tell Jeff to pull the plug.
With that in mind, we can/should and do question CP marketing and other depts. time to time (see other post regarding live shows), that is half the fun of this site, it's fun to armchair quaterback from the warmth of our homes. The problem I have is when EVERYTHING is done wrong, we should be happy there is a webcam. Would you or I put the camera in a different spot, maybe. Should we bi**h, complain, e-mail, call, NO. Let's keep it in perspective, this should be a HOBBY for us not an obsession for each of us. Let's just sit back enjoy the information we have access to and count the days till May.
