New This Summer... New Member of the MF Crew :D

hey all, I've been reading some of the posts on here, but haven't really posted anything till now. I got my contract in the mail, and it's official, I'm on the Millennium Force, my first choice, so I'm pretty excited. The only thing that I am kinda concerned about (well, not really concerned about, just anxious to find some other people in the same situation) is that, like college, I know there is a lot of partying and drinking going on during time off and evenings. I've never really been one for drinking or partying. If there's anyone out there who's gonna be working this summer and is the same way, feel free to give me an IM, cause I'm looking forward to meeting you all. Well, even if you're not like that, I'll still talk to you ;-) lol, I'm definitely not one to ignore anyone who is different than me... you guys understand, right? ;-) It'd just be nice to get a head start meeting people who I can hang out with during the rare down time of the job and not have to worry about being left in the dust when everyone goes off to party o:)

Anyway, just to introduce myself, I go to school at WV Wesleyan, am a sophomore, and am addicted to adrenaline, lol. I get a rush just looking at that picture looking down TTD o:) hehe. Oh, and my name's Michelle ;-)

On another note, is there anyone out there who prefers Gold to the off-point dorms and apartments? (I've read all the past posts, so I know how those of you who DON'T like Gold feel, lol... I'd really like to hear from the people who DO like it... for whatever the reason... lol). Thanks a lot. I appreciate it, and look forward to meeting everyone come May!

Hey Michelle :)

I worked MF my first summer and LOVED it! As for Gold, I lived there the past 2 summers, and will be living there again this summer. People make it out to be this horrible place, but it's not bad at all. I've seen worse dorms and apartments in Commons! Just try to bring a small rug or something, that way you don't have to walk on the wooden floors. And if you have a window air conditioner, BRING IT! They will install it for you (for a small fee of course!) it is so worth it!
If you have any other questions, post them here, or get my e-mail from my info, other than that, have a great summer!

~Amanda

Oh, BTW, I'm one of the not-so-heavy-partiers, we really do exist...not to say that now that I'll be 21 I won't go to Louie's, BW3's or the Dutch every now and then ;)

There's definitely people that don't spend every free moment at the bar! :) I am one of the few people who actually like to enjoy the park during my off time. It's great to go into the park for a couple hours in the evening when the crowds are lighter, the air is cooler, and just ride all evening. It's even better if you scam a few other people into going with you. :) There will be people though that refuse to go into the park unless they have to for work. You might even be one of them...

Hey Amanda,

Brian from the Mantis crew here. It's good that someone else is gonna be 21 and all (Kippy turns 21 on Apr. 13th and Kat is not far behind), but let's just remember to not have a repeat performance of our Bayside Cookout from last year. That was scary!

Thanks for your response Amanda :) I've heard that bringing a windo a/c is definitely worth it, lol... don't you have to pay a monthly fee for it as well? I also have an area rug that I have from college... my question is... would it be possible to put it under the furniture if it's a little bit larger than the open floor? or is the furniture basically fixed in place? and also... since you basically just get placed with people... I'm a little concerned about what it's condition will be in when I go home again, lol... depending on what my roommate(s) like :) <I'm not a snob, lol, seriously...>

There are tons of people out there who arent all about the drinking partying scene!! Dont worry you'll meet awesome people!! And although I prefer Commons over Gold, Gold does have some perks!! U are right there on point and Cedar Point is your backyard!! U dont have to wait for a bus or find a ride to work! Just get up and walk there!! Its kind of cool to be able to look out your window everynight and watch the Lazer show!! And you are two seconds from Wardrobe and the Cafeteria! Thats always nice!! Gold is just older and smaller but if you bring things to brighten up your room you will be fine!! I had friends who even carpeted her room etc... Just get an AC unit if you are in Gold! Trust me it will be the best thing u invest in! Otherwise you could melt or things in your room could melt! Thats never cool!!! But yep thats all I have to say for now!! I'll talk to ya later!! Have fun!! See ya in a couple of months!!!

oh, and after reading the posts that I obviously didn't see were there... lol... Matt, I'll definitely be spending some off time in the park. Honestly, I'm kinda into photography, and I'm expecting there to be a moment every now and then when I need a break from <god forbid> riding the MF ;-) hehe... but I might go in there and just take pictures... other than that, I'll certainly go and take evenings off to just ride everything, why work there if you're not going to take advantage of the unlimited entrances? lol... let me know if you ever need a buddy ;-)

How old do you have to be to operate a ride at cedar point? And do you have to pass tests to be able to run it? And is It hard? I will be 18 feb 22 2004 so can you tell me what i have to do to be able to operate a ride. Do you have to have experice or worked at the point for a year or so. Tell me everything about operating a ride and how to do it. do you have to pass a test? If you could answer my questions that would be great.

What's life without rollercoasters!!!

http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/jobs/_joblist.cfm?category_id=6 There is the dicriptions. You have to be 18, pass a drug test, and other stuff`before you can actully work. From what I've heard, it's not a big problem.

My first 'formal' job is a ride host on Millennium Force. Getting a job, even if its something like MF, isn't very hard at all. You just need to work there long enough to make it worth it for them to hire you, apply early enough, and be willing to do what the job requires.

Hey Brian!

No, I don't plan on the 'cook-out' incident happening again this summer ;) Now, if ya'll want to do that, by all means go ahead, but you'd better be there to open the ride the next morning ;) ;) Ha ha ha...j/k

I'm also one that isn't into partying a lot. It's also my first summer, so we might hang out after work or something.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Amanda!

We had every intention of opening the ride the next morning (except Shannon and I, whose day was supposed to be off), but the police had other intentions...enough said!

...but we did get Operations Excellence!

hey all...just thought i'd ask here instead of starting something new. I am new this summer at CP and was just curious as to how many free park tickets you get for friends and family throughout the summer?

~Lindsey

4 free tickets after you have been there for a month. Then after that you can get discounted tickets.
