New seat belt horror story

The reason I said what I said was that the test seat and the seats on the trains are supposedly the same, so why are all the "horror" stories coming out about how guests fit in the test seat and not the seat in the train.
I got this idea because the park office measures (or used to measure) kids and say what their height was. The kids then would get an arm band either red, blue, green, etc. showing that the park office approved their height if there is any problem getting on a ride.
Well S2Kster, If you are able to fit in the test seat, and TOLD you CAN ride, then what could possibly go wrong? I could see if an employee told you, sorry you cant ride since you cant fit in the test seat...yea then there is nothing to argue about! But, I would be really mad if I waited 3 hours of my Cedar Point day, and then told I cant ride, when at the entrance I was told I could! servo and Jeff, I agree with everything you guys said. I dont know about anyone else on here, but if this happened to me, I would go to a "higher up" person in the park and bring this up. Doing nothing and just walking away not saying anything about a situation like this, is not going to solve anything. I could care less if I look like an idiot. It would be an issue of mine, not anyone elses.

thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!

I'm 6'5" 215 (hehe) and I'll not only attempt the test seat, I'll also take a fastpass for the first try. Nothing lost, nothing gained there.
hey there Big T!!

i personally think you would NOT have a problem with fitting MF. if you are down to 215, you should be fine!

of course, it wont be till NEXT YEAR that we find out for sure, but what the hey...

I'm 6'4 225 and I fit on the ride, so mofomaniacal you have a chance.

Servo is right. If you are told that you can ride at the entrance then denied at the station then that's messed up. There is nothing you can say that would make that right. If a person is told by a CP employee that they can ride MF then they should be able to ride MF.

Go Ravens and Lakers, don't worry, we'll bounce back.

X at SFMM is frickin awesome, it's a must ride for all coaster fans.

I think cp should come out with a stamp certifying people able to ride after being checked in the ride seat at the front of the line, that way it would be up to the ride op to help out a little to insure everyone can ride.

Very good point jwhoogs! Like, they can stamp only people that are unsure if they can ride. Then they try the test seat and if all is well, they get a stamp saying they can ride. This will also save time, employees wont have to mess around as much in the station with people who are just on the boarder.

thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!

They should have a test seat at Park Operations. Just like children can get a wristband to certify their height, you can get one to certifiy you fit on the specific ride. Only issue is Ride ops not "following" it. When I was younger I had to get a braclet becuase my height was questionable and a ride op refused me on a ride even though I was tall enough to ride (according to park ops).

The ride ops do have the final say, even if you have a wrist band. People will do sneaky things like get a band for a kid who's tall enough, and then try to take it off that kid and put it on another one's wrist.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

This plan will never happen for two reasons.

1. Can you imagine the nightmare of trying to get seats for all of the rides. With MF you might have to take one off of a car. I mean, it's 5 years old already. Plus, you would have to have MF, TTD, and probably a few other ones. People can be too large for other rides also, it's just MF is the strictest (sp?). You can't tell someone we only cater to the MF people when they can be too large to ride Raptor.

2. Intamin would have a fit. This whole problem is with Intamin. You can't test it off the ride and say someone is okay to ride. You have to fit on MF. They can't test you off of an Intamin ride and then tell people they're cleared.

One issue I've seen is people in the test seat will extend their legs out, onto the ground, and get the belt buckled and 1" slack... Obviously, on the train, you don't have this option. Your legs are bent at the knee, with your knees higher than you waist. This really affects how the belt fits. If they want an ACCURATE test at the entrance, they need to box in the seat so it really simulates the train.

ROUNDABOUND.

Went to CP yesterday, and I was very nervous about MF...

Im 6'5, 240lbs, and I pulled around just close to 3 inches on Dragster, but maybe a little under 2 on MF. I think they put belts on MF that have that 1 inch removed, or they havn't stretched yet. Not sure, but I can still ride! Yay!

I am 5'7 and 225lbs with a 38" waist and I fit fine.(Too many Dr Peppers). But I have a flat rear, father's side of the family. I fit just fine.

My thought is that it would be safer without the 1" slack. Although unlikely, any slack could let the belt loosen during the ride. If the belt is at or near the end once it hits the end it isn't going any further.

I am a circle track racer and I often have to retighten my belts during a race.

South Georgia- Where you run the A/C and heater in the same day

On opening day I fit in the test seat perfectly fine, but I was about a quarter inch shy of the seatbelt even buckling. I brought the issue to park op's and they said that they would check into it but apparently nothing has been done yet,
