New seat belt horror story

my BF told me this story from a co-worker of his.

his co-worker had just gotten back from CP.

they tried the MF test seat and fit perfectly. sothey wait in line. THREE HOURS LATER they get in the train and are told "nope, sorry, you dont fit."

needless to say, these people will never go back to CP again.

now. is this common to actually FIT the test seat and STILL get turned away from the actual ride?

i wish we had known this guy was going, as we probably could have saved them a lot of heartache by telling them to let the ride ops know they fit the test seat and other key phrases to use.

I have a real problem with the 3 hour wait. That's insanely long and I highly doubt it was that long. I also doubt any ride ops told him that he "didn't fit". Lastly, perhaps they didn't *correctly* secure themselves in the test seat?

A minor break down on a busy day would easily push the wait to three hours. I've seen 2+ hour waits this year, full queue.

Maybe the seatbelt fit perfectly, but for some reason the belt just fitting isn't good enough for Intamin. Did they know about the one-inch rule? There's a sign by the entrance, let alone ALL the commotion it's stirred up.
all i know is the guy told my BF that the RIDE OP siad "no, sorry, you dont fit. you cant ride."

either way, one would think that since they fit the TEST SEAT, which is SUPPOSEDLY smaller belt-wise than the actual train, that they SHOULD have been allowed to ride.

it just stands to reason, right??

has this happened to anyone else?

it just seems like it's getting worse instead of better as the season goes on.

yes, erikjc, they saw the sign at the entrance, and they tried the test seat when asked to.

it wasnt through anything they DID or DIDNT do.

it just seems to me, as it did to my BFs coworker, that if you fit the test seat, you should be allowed to ride.

simple, really.

unless CP and Intamin are gonna amend the signs to say that "just because you fit the test seat DOES NOT mean you will be allowed to ride."

Instead of doing this whole, you must pull the seat belt so that you have one inch of slack, why not simply shorten the seat belt even further?

I went to Cedar Point yesterday. I finally got to ride Milly for the first time. Early this year I could ride Dragster just fine but I was still to short on the seatbelt for Milly. I read that Dave measured the seats and said that dragster was 2 inch deeper. Anyways, I got in the test seat got it buckled. Pulled about a inch and half of slack. The lady said i shouldn't have a problem if i could do that again. So I set at the test seat and got it to where i could do it everytime I tried without hassle. I got to the station was a little nervous, but figured sicne I waited this long to ride milly I might as well wait 35 more minutues for the front seat. I set down buckled the seat belt. I fit just fine. I don't know why you guys had trouble with it. If you can buckle the seat and pull the inch of slack. You shouldn't have a problem. After they checked it and I was sitting there ready to ride Milly for my first time. It felt great. The ride was abousltey amazing. The time it took me to lose the weight for me to fit was aboulstley worth it. If your having trouble fitting go on a diet.. Work for it. Its worth when you can finally fit and ride it. Magnum is still my favorite coaster. Milly stole the second spot from Dragster though. If your having problems with the test seat. Take your time at the test seat and try to buckle it . Find that way that'll work. And if you have to drink diet pop! It's really worth it.
That's what I did, went on a diet. I refuse to sit in the test seat though. I just say I was on it earlier in the day.

Has anyone found the Ride Op for TTD telling people that they want a 1 inch slack? About 3 weeks ago at 10:55pm, he was very picky on who he let on. There he stated that there was a 1 inch slack rule, which I never heard of before. I haven't ridden it since so I wasnt sure it was really true.

That's odd, I haven't heard about that yet. I don't ride TTD very often, so I'd be less likely to notice it. You can catch me on Magnum instead.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

The sign at TTD's test seat does state that you need an inch of slack, although I've noticed that a lot of the crew isn't as anal about it as the MF crew is. Plus, with Dragster's seats being a bit more accomodating anyway, it's less of a problem over there.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Well, why didn't you tell the ride op in the station that the other ride op at the beginning of the que told me in the test seat I could ride. I would have said, why dont you talk to the ride op who checked me in the test seat because he said I could ride. Thats plain stupidity, someone should have fought this, I know I would have. You cant just leave the station after a 3 hour wait, not saying anything or at least arguing the situation. This is all accounting on IF your boyfriend or whoever is telling the truth.

thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!

And where is that going to get you? If you can't ride, you can't ride, it's that simple. Arguing is only going to make you look like the idiot...

I have an idea that might eliminate further confusion. If someone who fits in the test and has the one inch slack required, one of the employees outside of the entrance should sign a piece of paper or something to that nature which the guest would give to a ride op if there is some problem if he cant fit in the seat. The paper would say that he fit in the test seat so he should ride that ride. I don't know, but my two cents
Jeff da Beat's avatar
I don't think that's the point. You shouldn't just be able to ride just because someone messed up or something is inaccurate. You need an inch of slack when you are on the ride, period. If you don't have it, you can't ride. I don't like the policy. No one does. But there is nothing anyone can really do but to abide by it or go somewhere else.

Even if it violates a safety regulation? C'mon people...

C'mon? Where are we going? If a person sits in the test seat and fits, especially since it's less forgiving, where is the problem?

Jeff - Advocate of Great Great Tunnels™ - Co-Publisher - PointBuzz - CoasterBuzz - Blog - Music

my point EXACTLY Jeff...

why others cant see my point is beyond me.

THAT is what upset these people so much. being told at the test seat that they were OK to ride, yet not being able to after waiting for 3 hours.

these poor people took the OK from the test seat person to heart, trusted their word and STILL got screwed.

how hard is that to understand?

The employee at the ride entrance checks for height, why can't they check for size as well? Sigh, what are they thinking?

Violating it from the viewpoint of CP's lawyers or from the guest?

I don't know if you're supporting the seat belt issue or what, please elaborate.
