New ride entrance signs suck

Finally got to the park today. Those new signs at the ride entrances really do suck. What do they even say? Is that some kind of lawyer-mandated nonsense?

Futuristic bow-wow... do the dog catcher!
I don't see why they would take away those old characters. Whats the point? (no pun) I liked them. Where do they see the logic in that
Ah Jeff, I love how you make your point so clear in the title of this thread. It would be interesting if someone from this site could spend the time actually reading the whole thing, writing it down, and then telling us all.

Steuks!!
Exactly, no one reads the damn things. I don't even know or care what they say, and I don't want to spend 20 minutes reading a sign. Somewhere buried in their are probably the height requirements, but since no one reads them (unless Johnny Cochran is available for hire) I've seen people start asking the ops about the requirements, as well as other basic things.

They are 100% ineffective. You probably need a magnifying glass to identify which ride it is. Seriously, is the name of the ride even on the sign??

I still like the rating system that says Mine Ride and MF are the same ride intensity of 5.. and the train is a "Mild Thirll Ride".. hehehehe

MF 2000 - 269 laps

MF 2001 - Tell ya when I hit triple digits....
I was looking through photos of Dorney Park at CoasterGallery and it seems that the Wild Mouse has both a character sign and one of the new signs. Why, why, why couldn't CP do this? Is there a possiblity that they will bring back character signs only use Peanuts figures instead?
Why doesn't CP just put up the old signs next to the new signs so everyone's happy-the lawyers and us! Those signs were just one of the things that definately made CP special.

Trim brakes-a necessity???
Can't wait till my June 16-18 trip!
The new signs are so plain and boring i didn't even notice them at first.

Bring back the character ride signs damnit!
Great, more work for the ride ops. This really is sad, because I know I've seen people any number of times taking pictures of the cartoon signs, and kids really got a kick out of seeing if they were tall enough or proving that they were or whatever. Just another piece of a nice family park lost to legalese and liability. UGH!

Jeff, cheers for your wonderful summation of all our feelings -- they suck! ;)

Ewww, the character signs made CP unique...why couldn't they have two signs? :(
I will try to have a high-quality photo of one up tomorrow. That way, you can read the text and see how dumb they really are. I'll let everyone know where they can find it at.

Dorney has used these signs for several years now, and yes, as mentioned above they coexist with the silly animal/creature/character entrance signs. Talon received one for this season as well, and each year sign shop continues to redo old signs with new characters.

Since when has Dorney ever done anything right that CP did wrong? *earth shifts orbit*

I agree that the signs are not good. As far as the old signs go, I am pretty sure (although not positive) that I spotted a few of them in the Town Hall Museum.

O and I remember one or two years when I was little and just over 48 inches... I knew I was tall enough to ride the 48 inch rides but I always had to go up to the character signs and stand next to the red and white sticks to check and make sure. I guess I found that fun lol. I will miss those signs. :(

Whats life if you never get to the POINT?... BoRiNg!http://www.expage.com/cedarpointsanduskyohio
it sounds like the same senario that happened when they brought Snoopy in and took out the Berenstain Bears. Why couldn't they have had both?
Ride ratings:
CCMR: 5
Magnum: 5
Mantis:5
MF:5

how do those compare?

Ewwww... What can I say, yuck. You weren't kidding when you said guests wouldn't be able to figure out what ride the sign is for -- they're virtually interchangeable. Might this be a cost-cutting manuever? All we need to do is print a new name... Again, YUCK.

Thanks for the pics, bobthetomato! (Not your fault the signs are terrible ;))
