New Pre-K Pass

Kevinj's avatar

Just to let the rest of you know, I called the park to clear something up that I did not see on the website. Not only does our daughter turn 6 in late September, but she is also a really tall 5 (nearly 6) year-old, at about 49 inches. This girl has already taken spins on Mystic Timbers! I was curious, then, if there is a height stipulation to this, as many over 48" would be doing things beyond, perhaps, a much shorter pre-k person.

The answer was a clear no. Height has nothing to do with this pass and will not be checked; only age, so our little one is good to go.

OK, but will they need to chop another limb off at the ride entrance to verify age, again?

This is such a fabulous deal!

My mom was wishing they had something similar for senior citizens as her and my dad only come to the park to walk around, maybe ride 2 rides and have some food & beers at lusty lils. I said while that would be nice, their bread and butter comes more from young parents with little ones who will be spending quite a bit more money and time at the parks. Also I think this is a greAt way to expose parents to cp as I know of so many who think it's just for big kids and don't realize all it has to offer in terms of kiddie rides.

We utilize early entry with our platinum passes. Think it's safe to guess that the pre k pass will also be allowed in?

The pre-k pass comes with all the perks of a platinum pass, so yes.

I bought my 3 year old a platinum pass last month. Hmm any chance on a partial refund?

Well, my sarcastic side wants to simply say "good luck"....that said, given the very new nature of this pass, it can't hurt to try. I certainly would.

I know right... Bad timing on my part.

I did think it was silly to charge a 3 year old $170

If you do, let us know how that conversation goes. I was actually thinking about this the other day; it's so new many people might have renewed a pass for their kid not even knowing about this pass. I'm curious what their response will be.

I don't think many would have renewed before they announced this because renewals for 2018 weren't available yet, but some may have bought for the first time if they hadn't been to the park yet this year and their kid went from two to three years of age.

So, in case anyone is wondering, the process works like renewing (or purchasing) your Platinum Pass. You will add the Pre-K pass to your "cart", fill out the requested info, and then print out the voucher that you then take to the park along with either 1) birth certificate (BC), or 2) copy of BC. Like the Platinum Pass, you can either upload a pic you have while completing the info online or have one taken at the park.

Pretty simple process, and now we're good to go for the 5, soon to be 6 year old, for all of 2018, and she gets to ride Millennium Force for free all next year. Pretty nice deal.

Plus, this pulls people into the "pass holder ecosystem", which I imagine has a certain amount of "stickiness".

DJ is absolutely correct. First time, BTW. Gotta start somewhere. But seriously, we were in the platinum pass renewal death spiral for nearly 10 years before finally re-evaluating things. And if they had this program when my kids were younger (10 and 12 now) it would have been even more of a no-brainer. Great idea, CP!

I have to agree. Had no issues processing the passes for our 2 year old twin daughters who will be turning 3 during the winter. These passes will make trips to CP next year much lighter on the wallet than I was expecting.

They allowed you to process the pass even though they were under 3 at the time? I had thought that the child in question had to be between the 3-5 age. I suppose it doesn't make a difference as 2 and under have always been free, but that is interesting.

tedders55, yeah they didn't ask or seem to care. They turn 3 during the off season anyways, and I figured it'd be easier to get it taken care of now.

Has anyone processed theirs yet? It says to do so at the CP Season Pass Center, which is in the front of the park right? Is there also a pass center in the back of the park?

Urumqi's avatar

We just processed our pre-K Pass. You must go to the season pass center at the front of the park. There is not a season pass center at the back of the park. Also, don’t forget your child’s birth certificate.

Tall and fast not so much upside down...

Is the pass center really open just during calendar hours, so starting at 10 like the website says?

In my limited experience it’s been earlier, but I ain’t the website.
It seems that once everyone shows up, sets up, and if they look outside and see a line they open. I think I caught them around 9-9:30 once.
