NEW Policy with MF seatbelts?

I am just happy that we have another person with the perfect solution once again for all of us to just "go on a diet" and everything will be just fine. Boy I can't believe no one thought of this major, huge, breakthrough solution. No one will ever be overweight again because apparently we can all just go on a diet and make everything better.

Again, somebody who just does not have a clue what its like to struggle with extra weight. And by the way I don't have this problem as I fit the ride perfectly and always have, but I am not insensitive to those who can't and think sadly that a diet can fix everything.

Alright, here it is. I'm so sick of people complaining about the seatbelt and such. Just stop. If you are one of the people that may have trouble riding, try the test seat it's not going to kill you. They did this to make a safer ride. All this talk about modyifing the trains is stupid. There built that way to give you the sensation that your not safe, and you are going to fall out. I'm just so tired of hearing people say i'm never coming back because i couldn't ride. There are 15 other roller coasters and many many other rides there. One coaster should not make or break your trip. If I offended anyone in any way i'm sorry but stop the bickering. About the ride ops. There doing their jobs. Now yes there is usually on SoB in a group. Just deal with it, there's nothing you can do about it. The whole credit card thing. They won't do anything about it. If you paid to get in, and did enter the park, then there is nothing that will get you a refund. There are signs posted everywhere that say anything, and everything that you do in the park is not CF's responisbility. So please please please stop complaining and just enjoy the park. Thank you. *** Edited 6/5/2004 8:41:01 PM UTC by raptorman95***

OK, here's why it's you that needs to "get over it." It's easy for you to sit there and say that when you can ride. It's quite another when you're on the other side of the fence.

If you don't have something more meaningful to contribute, stay out of it. And for God's sake, learn the difference between "there," "their" and "they're."

I'm actually to the point where if i grow another cm on my waist that i might not be able to ride it. I'm just saying that complaining about it won't make a difference. And i do know my differences between there, their, and they're. It's just that i've been doing that since school began on all my essays and stuff and school is almost over, and i'm to the point where it doesn't matter to me anymore. But you are right, I do need to get used to using it all the time. *** Edited 6/5/2004 11:14:33 PM UTC by raptorman95***
I really do hope that all of you are trying to do something about not being able to ride, not just sitting there and complaining about it. I feel for you if you are honestly trying to ride, but I really don't care if you aren't doing anything about it.

Good luck to everyone who is trying, and I hope to see you riding sometime.

good point jeff
I don't think anyone should get over it, this is a serious problem and there should be a solution out there someware so everyone can ride. Most football players probobly can't ride, so is that fare?
fare - (n) money paid for services

fair - (adj) reasonable or unbiased, acceptable or better than acceptable

:) have a great day

As for the seatbelts thing...I have been following this post for some time now, and have been waiting to jump in here somewhere..apprently the improper grammar led to this.

I feel that CP needs to do something to accomodate the larger population. The Seatbelts have alays been short in my opinion, and i am 6 feet 150 pounds, so I know i should have no trouble riding.

However, my fiance, which has never been to the Point and will be going with me for her first time in July, is not built the same as me. I can not think of how she is going to feel if she cannot get that one inch of slack..I don't wanna see the disappointment and sadness.

And so help me God if some ride op does decide to be a jerk to her, I think the price of a ticket would be worth it to knock his uncaring, rude ass out :). I am hoping she can ride, and I will get her to try the test seat, albeit that it isn't perfectly accurate.

This is my opinion...I will go back to lurking and correcting grammar :)

2 people in my party were worried about not fitting and fortunatley they did but thats besides the point. At the entrance to millie they have the test seat and down there they want to see three inches of black and on the platform they only want to see one inch. apparently ride ops arnt aloud to touch you or your belt(meaning they cant pull it for you, you must be able to do it your self) so people in your party have to. I'm assuming this is b/c CP cant be lyable if they didnt touch you. But this brought me to the thought of if youre heavy set and show that one inch of belt and its really tight will that cause the problem of the belt snapping. 1 member in my party expierienced this on maggie. they had there belt pulled taught and on the last 2 bunny hops the belt came un-done. do you think this will be a problem on millie?
Three inches of slack on the test seat? There is no consistency whatsoever with this policy. I was there last Thursday and I managed about an inch and a half on the test seat and they said I was ok. There is no way I can get three inches though. As mentioned earlier, if you are turned away at the test seat, you could probably go up the exit ramp and try the seat on the actual train, or if you know you can fit, just do what was sugested and say you already rode today. *** Edited 6/7/2004 7:37:12 AM UTC by Coasterfan***

I was at the park for the first time ever on Monday night. I was a single rider and luckly got a front seat on MF and the person next to me was a new employee of the park. The new employee was a teenager, and a hefty kid. He could get the lapbar down but not the seatbelt. The ride-op checking bars and belts was very helpful to the kid, but as he was helping the kid for the last time try to get the belt to fasten they dispatched the ride without the guy giving his all clear. Needless to say we were stuck about 200 feet up the lift for 20 minutes while they got a manager and two mechanics up the elevator. Interesting situation that shouldn't have happend. But i had a great time otherwise for my first park visit.
We'll for one thing it's good that they climbed the hill because who knows what could happen. I'd be kind of nervous if I had witnessed that from the station.
A lot of people left the line after it happened. And by the time the train was on the hill the kid was in the seat belt so he would've been fine, but it was good they got it stopped for saftey.

Well actually there are things you can do, when ride-ops are jerks to you. I recall a incident about two maybe three years ago, (first year Dan Kellar was GM) when a Mantis ride op was a $%# to my friends and I. Well a nice email was sent to Kinzel, which was forwarded to Kellar. Soon after, that ride op and most of the Mantis crew found themselves on another ride. We basically said that is not how normal CP ride ops treat CP guests. When the peak season hits, the "tourists" won't appreciate how we the "regulars" were treated. (This happened in May). Boy was there a difference after that in the kindness of that crew that year. At least that's how I saw it. So what I am saying is it doesn't hurt to complain if your story is straight and you have a legitimate argument.

hooper

there have been i'm sure so many complaints that it's not even funny. i think that if they keep having this many the'll put a computer outside MF test seat that says file your complaint of ride op rudeness here and you type it.

Well, I am another who fell victim to the new seatbelt policy. I got the belt fastened, but could only muster about 3/4" of "slack".

At least I know I'll be able to ride in just a couple more weeks. I've been on a diet (started it before all this belt nonsense) and have already lost almost 20 lbs. A couple more weeks and I know I can pull off that extra 1/4".

FYI: They are also requiring an inch of "slack" on Dragster. Luckily, I was able to pull that off.

coolfun, I'm sure there have been too, and that's good. Nobody needs to sit and take ride ops stapling people hard and just being downright rude.

Do you actually think that the ride ops get the complaints? Or do you think they just rip them up after you file them?

The park takes the complaints seriously, and with all of the complaining here you can be assured they're aware of whatever issues arise. Some managers obviously aren't handling the complaints well, but others are actively searching for solutions.

It's also worth noting that you only ever hear one side of the story. There are obnoxious guests, and worse, jackass enthusiasts that think they know everything and try to cheat the system to get a loose bar. They're easy to spot, and frankly, they get what they deserve.

Most every crew over the years has had one bad apple, and this year is no different. However, I'd cut the crew in general a little slack because they're tasked with the impossible job of enforcing a ridiculous directive while showing people a good time.
