NEW Policy with MF seatbelts?

The only way you'll know for sure is if you go and try for yourself.
Don't rule out the possibility that you may fit. Last year, I BARELY fit, and I'm 6'3 and 250, with a 42 inch waist. I visited the park on Wednesday, and sat in the front seat. I struggled to buckle the belt (they are definately shorter this year, since I was 15 pounds heavier last year and had less trouble), and then came the operator to test the slack. She pulled twice, and said I couldn't ride. I insisted I could muster up an inch of slack, and after about 3 minutes of pulling on that belt until I thought I would tear a rotator cuff, I made the inch of slack. I held up the train for a few minutes, but I made it. So, I would definately say to give it your best shot, you can probably make it.
At times like this I'm glad I have no butt.
I'm about 145. I should not have a problem should I? It really sucks that so many people cant ride now.

I know some of you guys are new around here, but you really need to read the thread. These questions have already been answered.

we buy season passes each spring. my husband is 6"6" - 225lbs. reading past comments we wasted our money when we purchased 5 season passes for our family. have sent email to cedar point of course no response, maybe everyone should complain to their sponsors, pepsi, meijers, excetera. put pressure on them and the park
Hey everyone, just got back from CP today. We were a little worried about my husband getting on MF but had no trouble. He is 6' 1'' 235 lb 40 waist. He could pull about an inch and a half of "slack." We did see a few people turned away who weren't real happy. The entrance op asked some people to try the test seat and the rest of the line had to wait. He also insisted that the test seat was exactly the same as the seats on the train. The belt hits you at your upper thighs not around your waist. It all depends on where you carry your weight.

We were never held up at the station because of somebody's size. One op did complain about the size of my fanny pack but was overruled by another one. Never had that happen. I feel bad for people who are turned away after being able to ride in the past. I agree with some previous posts that if you think you may not fit you need to try the seat for yourself before getting in the queue.

I've read about half of this thread, but I'll comment now.

I have a few tricks that might help:

-Pull the belt smoothly. If you yank it, you may not force as much out. Pull hard, but slowly.

-(This one's gonna be controversial) Go commando (if you can). I've personally tested this with a measuring tape, and from hip to hip, my boxers added 1 inch. 1 inch! That's what you need, and being, um, "less-clothed" might give it to you.

-Wear thin clothing. Reasons stated above.

-Sit up. If you slouch, you'll add length.

Take my advice (if you dare!).

I just read the Plain Dealer piece and was astonished by Carole Sanderson's remarks.

I was an ACE member for one year, and while I enjoyed the newsletters and magazines (which I always got very late), I found the membership to be of little value (good thing it was fairly cheap). The only time I used it was at CoasterMania 2002 and the riding opportunities were fairly limited. Guess I was spoiled by Millennium Mania of the previous year.

One thing I recall from my ACE membership was the bylaws, which, if I recall correctly, essentially state that members are NEVER to bad mouth a ride or park to the media. Members SHALL remain "enthusiastic." I always suspected this bylaw was part of ACE's efforts to remain cozy with the various parks. That actually makes sense.

But Ms. Sanderson is so ridiculously full of excrement. Roller coaster enthusiasts, whether they are members of ACE or not, don't go to Cedar Point to watch shows, ride antique cars, hop around in the Snoopy Bounce or ride the Junior Gemini (OK, I know the latter two or small-size restricted, and the Snoopy Bounce does look like fun).

But I digress.

And while some of the other coasters range from a little bit boring to excellent -- Disaster RipSnort, Cork Screw, Wildcat, Mine Ride, Wildcat, and Gemini, for example -- the hardcore among us want the big ones: MF and TTD.

And being a true advocate for ALL coaster lovers, Ms. Sanderson is saying screw those of us who fit in the past but don't now or are too embarrassed to try.

Fine. I hope she unknowingly goes on a nothing-but-carb diet and turns into StayPuff the Marshmallow (Wo)man. And guess who will have no sympathy for her. Yes, she too will be SOL.

OK, it's just a little nasty, wishful thinking.

Please forgive me.

Boatman, what are you drinking?

Millennium Force is by far the best coaster I have ever been on, and I look forward every year going to Cedar Point to ride it. I am like many other people I am big, and last year I had no problem going on the ride, and I just read on this site that they changed the seat bealts because a man that fell out of a Intamin Coaster at Six Flags New England. I think if you lok at park safety records that Six Flags has a high number of ride accdents, where a cedar fair park has little to no accdents. I am going to Cedar Point in July and if I can't get on, or if thet 1 inch of belt rule, I will write a letter to Dick Kinzel. Why make Cedar Point suffer for Six Flags wrong doing...

I just cant belive how big this topic is. Does anyone think Cedar Point will go back to the old way, or keep this one forever? They will get millions of complaints definately...but I guess they are gonna stick with it in my opinion.

thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!

hello everybody im a big guy and with the changes done to the belts on mf maybe cp should have the test seats outside of the park so we can see if wwe can fit in so if we dont fit in them we dont have to go to the park i would be mad if i paid got in and found out that i cant ride the rides
Sounds like Boatman also may be suffering from excrement overload.

I overall think the bad publisity Cedar Point is getting right now will speed up the end to this policy. This is the last thing the park would ever want. TTD and this ride is CP biggest attractions. Many people go there just to ride them. I don't know for sure but I think this will affect the parks attendence once summer comes around.

On my trip to CP on Friday 5-22 a friend of mine and myself had no problem riding MF. He has a 40” waist and I have a 36” waist. My guess is a lot of people THINK they have a 36” – 40” waist and are disappointed once they get up to the station and can not ride.

I also feel CP is extremely negligible for not explaining this AT THE BEGINNING of the ride! A simple sign explaining the new policy would be extremity helpful considering that the test chairs belts are identical to the actual rides

There is one more group of people who can yell at Cedar Point about this and they will be the most lisetned to:

Stockholders

If people get upset about this policy, stop coming to the parks, stop buying season passes, stop spending money, and causes CF's profits to go down then it is a MAJOR concern for stockholders.

If you are a stockholder, I suggest a letter to the company.

what i think of this whole issue is if you have more slack on the seatbelt you would be able if the lap bar were to open fly out easier because the seatbelt's slack will come out and so will you i think the less slack you have the safer you are and if i'm wrong will someon please inform me
