Louie's might make some more money this year! The 2006 season brings 11pm closes only on weekends! Major savings for Cedar Point on hours! I guess this will help with the cheaper admission prices.

Yes, but it's disappointing. One of the best parts about CP is the night lights which, with Daylight Savings Time, don't make much of a difference until 9:30 or 10:00, anyway. Yet another mark of the decline of the park (IMHO). If they wanted to cut back on hours (again, only IMHO), it would be better to open at noon and stay open until 11 or midnight. *** Edited 1/4/2006 1:05:58 AM UTC by Western Cruiser***
I saw this coming a long time ago. While I'm dissapointed with the shortened hours, I do understand the reason for doing this. I'll admit, one of my favorite times to be in the park is after dark, but if they feel that this is the right thing to do, then I support their decision. I can only hope that the park will see some improvements this year that would hopefully support bringing back the 11pm closing for the rest of July and August come 2007.

YAY!!!! More sleep for me!
I hated 11:00 closes every night. They always meant that I was out of the park after 12:30, get home between 1:30 and 2:00, and get back up and go to work between 6:30 and 7:00 when I had to open.
I'm not sure if this is good for guests or not but I know that it will mean a lot as far as employees getting more rest at night and not being so tired on the job that they are almost ready to pass out.
I personally don't think the changes will have that big of an effect on most guests other than those who like to ride Millennium Force, Raptor, or Top Thrill Dragster at night. Those are the only rides that really have much of a wait past 10:00 and guests will still be able to get that night ride in if they want, they just have to be in line by 10:00.
At least Cedar Point doesn't do what SFMM has done with X, closing down queues an hour early just because they have long lines at night.

To me it means an extra hour of sleep! (or maybe even fun!)

For those of us who are coming from 2-3 hours away and generally leave before the park closes anyway, this won't affect us much. Besides, most of the 10 pm closings appear to be on weekdays anyway, when a lot of people likely leave early because of work the next morning.
On the other hand, midnight closings seem to be up for halloweekends, with the shorter hours coming from a noon opening on Saturdays.
IMO, this is a good thing, especially for the employees.
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
I disagree. Its very nice for the employees; however I live 2 hours away and most nights won't get in line for TTD or MF till 10:55. To say the least, I am very dissappointed.

I fixed your post. :)
Yeah, this sucks. I'm going to be working nights this summer, and so I probably won't make it to the park before 3pm on any given day. Just 1 less hour to enjoy, I guess.
I noticed they posted the "printer friendly" version of the park hours, and on that page it shows Sundays in July and most of August only open till 10, where the main operating page shows a closure of 11, wonder which one is right?

Wow it's painfully clear how much everyone who has never worked at Cedar Point don't know what it's like. Let me just say working at Dragster, 11 oclock closes meant we didn't get out of there until 1 am. If you came in at 11:30 or 1:30 and working around 70 hrs/wk you would be happy. Also many times we had to open at 7 am. So sorry for everyone who will have one less hour to enjoy the park [tear]. Cry me a river.

I have no problem with this. I'm a guest that spends 2-4 3 day weekends OnPoint and can see the park whenever I want to, while staying OnPoint
We're usually done in by dark and ready to cook at Lighthouse Point, though dark visits are nice. Sorry I am part of the GP on this one...

I knew there was a reason I learned how to play my worlds smallest violin. You decided to work at Top Thrill Dragster and you could have transferred at any time. :)
Besides, the same could happen this summer because 3 days still have 11pm closes.

You really do not have all that much of a choice as to the ride now do you?

Well, 11pm closing is only for Fridays and Saturdays during July and August. The online calendar has been edited to match the print-friendly version.

To me it seemed like most guests didn't even know when the park closed, so I'm not sure it will matter to so many people. I do like the park at night with all of the lights,it's my favorite time of the day. It did kinda suck working late and getting up really early the next morning tho. and crazy me, i drove from Toledo to Sandusky & back home everyday for the summer of 2004, it landed me an awesome job so it was totally worth it.

I did the same thing this season. 4 months, 11,000 miles, and not a lot of sleep, but it was all worth it in the long run. I'm going back again this season, only this year I've gotten smarter and I'll be living in Sandusky instead.
