I just heard an interesting rumor. I'm taking it with a grain of salt but thought I should atleast post it because I think there will be more than GateKeeper in 2013.
It said on September 3, 2012 a page from the Cedar Point website was mistakenly posted online for a short period of time. The page contained details of the new for 2013 Gemini, in which the two red trains will be turned backwards for the 2013 season. Along with the new trains, the rides logo will be updated to reflect the racing aspect. The station is also slated to be renovated to better control guest flow and reduce crowding. The announcement is expected to be made November 1st.
Now again please take this with a grain of salt but this could also have to do with Geminis trains on the Mine Ride. It will also be Gemini's 35th birthday.

I think every park needs a raving roller coaster. I'd like to see if this could really been done. I know Cedar Fair switched around all the backwards trains at the Paramount Parks but I believe that was because of PTC requesting it. It would deffently attract more people. Maybe we'll finally see that hot blacktop removed from that area.

If you love the ride you wouldn't want to see it go. I'm just getting annoyed that whenever there is a discussion about a ride within the first 5 posts people start jumping in saying tear it out. Let's check the list of what rides need to be torn out according to the users of this site:
MS
CCMR
Corkscrew
Gemini
ID(i believe this one was mentioned not to sure though)
Mantis
Back on topic I think it would be cool but, find it hard to believe because more and more racers have stopped running one side backwards
I understand your point, but there comes a time when older rides need to be removed to make room for expansion. Like Wildcat for example. I enjoyed riding Wildcat, but I was kind of relieved when I heard that they were going to remove it. If they had kept the ride, the crowds at Luminosity would have been so much worse without those few rows of bleachers.
If they do run Gemini backwards, I feel like that helix at the end will be even more painful than it already sometimes is.

Gemini is a classic with timeless appeal, just like Blue Streak. I hope its at the park forever.
I'm glad someone gets it! Newer isn't always better and if people go to CP constantly and start finding themselves getting bored maybe they need to add more parks to their lives instead of suggesting that rides need to be replaced. I rode Gemini in my wedding dress on my wedding day and now ride it several times each visit with my kids. It's the only coaster my husband can still ride with us without his back killing him. If it ever goes away I will be very upset.
