Wait, they're adding onto Hotel Breakers? Again? Or is it Breakers Express? Leave it up to the Sandusky Register to make me confused.
If you look at the CP website, both are getting changes. The BIG change is for Hotel Breakers which is getting a big tower added to the Hotel.

I will say the lack of any renderings of what the current portion of the park will look like is a little suspect.
Ok, this just in.
For 2017, Cedar Point will be adding to their Soak City and give a complete rebranding naming it Cedar Point shores. Then, all of the rides in the park will be torn down, except top thrill dragster and Magnum (which were seen in the renderings!)
RIP Cedar Point, as 90% of the peninsula sinks into Lake Erie...

Point Plummet and Starboard Surge/Portside Plunge appear to be located on the former Challenge Racing site. Lakeside Landing appears to be on the former Skyscraper site. I wonder if we'll also be seeing any additional upgrades to existing Soak City attractions as well.[/quotIt looks like Lakeside Landing is going where Choo Choo Lagoon is right now.
There was nothing in this announcement regarding Challenge Golf or Ripcord. I would say CG will be gone next season. It's been in poor condition the last few seasons. Ripcord may just be relocated, hopefully not into the STR space like what was rumored during the last off-season.

Just an educated guess...but...I'm assuming the Hotel Breakers expansion (new tower) is driving a lot of what is being done with Soak City and the miniature golf course. I don't think there is any way they can add 100+ rooms without creating more parking for hotel guests NEAR the hotel.
Assuming they don't built a parking garage I think you will see parking where the miniature golf course is now (maybe it gets one more season while the tower is being constructed and then it goes to make way for parking) and you might even see the removal of the original lazy river and beach area.
To clear up I am seeing Breakers Express (now to be called Cedar Point Express hotel...a truly catchy name) 4th wing for 2017 and Hotel Breakers additional tower under construction for the next year and a half or so to open in 2018. Plus, Soak City rebranding (though the rebranding seems unnecessary to me) and new entrance gate, slides and family water play area.
From a fanboy perspective none of this is all that exciting...but as a shareholder I am pleased to see a focus on opportunities for additional out-of-park revenue...which is really where economic growth is going to have to continue to come from in the years ahead.

Just something funny...you can still see Mean Steak in the rendering of the new kiddie slide complex.

The fact that it's in the pictures says it's not going anywhere. I can't see them accidentally putting Mean Streak in there, if they were going to tear it down.
This doesn't mean anything. Shoot the Rapids could be seen in Valravn renderings, and we all see how that went.
