New Employees

If you get hired, who else's first summer at the point will it be and what made you decide to work at the point?
I'm doing this for a couple reasons
1. I want to get out of Florida for a little while, because I'm a Florida native.
2. I only have a couple more years before I get into the real world
3. To make some friends
I will be at the point for my first season next season
Rides or Lifeguard

I just have wanted to work at the point since age 13

I want to work in games. Since I'm only 14, I can't do much.

I've wanted to work there for the past couple seasons. I want to work there to be a part of CP. Plus I have some employee friends, (some from this site:)) who want me to.

Well, I live in Las Vegas which is a bit far from Ohio, but I could use a break. College is kicking my*****so what better to do than work at Cedar Point.

I actually applied about 2 weeks before the season started this year, but I wasnt 18 yet (in july i did). Being 17 there are few choices. Combine this with a short avaliabiliy due to graduation and my senior trip, it just didnt work out. Hopefully my experience will get me a job up there next summer. =)

To all prospective employees: Run while you still can!!!
I just finished as a first year employee and after much thought, I enjoyed it.  I must say that there will be plenty of times in which you will feel like you want to quit. Whether it's management, guests, or just plain fatigued by your job.  Just ignore those thoughts, because literally the next day or week will provide a new excitement. Honestly that's a given with any job.  For me, by the end of the season on October 28, I swore up and down I wouldn't go back next season.  Now I've had some time to think and I'm thinking maybe I'll go back.  It was actually very very fun. Best of all, You will be in the World's Best Amusement Park every day and no matter what your job is, you will make someone somewhere smile and make their day that much happier. :)

Just thought Id give some input on a first season from a now second season employee?

Summed it up very nicely flisk!  Trust me, when I say even after college, the worthwhile jobs will still give you those days of total stress and headaches.  Besides, there is a very unique experience to working in a park for the summer that I would suggest to anyone who has the time for it.  Go in realizing there will be many rough days to it too, but for the rest, I think you'll look back and love that you did it.

Well back to that worthwile job for me :-P...anyone know how to say piss off in Tiawanese?

One of us..

Hey cpfreak2.  This was my first season.  I had a blast.  The one important thing for all of you upcoming new employess should remember is to have fun, and don't take everything too seriously.  There are advantages and disadvantages to working at CP but then again it's like that with any job you have.  Enjoy your time at cp.  Enjoy the new friends you get to make.  Oh and if you get housing.  Get Bayside.  It's much nicer.

Love Always, Courtney

This will be my fifth (5th season) up at the point and I know the park better than most others...first year employees moose is right. Don't take everything seriously but make sure that you are timely, dependable, and ready to work.

I have loved it since I started there back in 1998. Though the park has gone through many changes, it is by far an experience that you will never forget. I guess I could sum it up in a few points...

>> The earlier the better. For processing in and housing, this will be the longest part of the entrance.

>> Go to the ride nights and other events to familiarize yourself with the park and other people there. You may work with over 4,000 people but they are some of your best friends by summers' end.

>> Though I am not a patron of it, for all those who like to have a brew or two, LOUIES' is the place to be. :)

>> If you have obligations over the summer like college orientation, miscellanous activities, and what not, make sure that you put it in as contracted days off because you may not get them due to staffing levels.

>> HAVE FUN...CEDAR POINT IS THE WORLD'S BEST AMUSEMENT PARK AND IT HAS BEEN FOR ALL FOUR YEARS I HAVE BEEN THERE.

If you would like to email me on more tips and other information, feel free to email me at dtroving@yahoo.com or IM me at Douger1234.

I guess that is the duty that I have since I am a Cedar Point Lifer.

See you guys in 2002. Doug =)
