Reopening DT would be cool for all the people (like me) that didn't get to see it in the open. The older fans may just like it for memories sake. All dark would be excellent. And i think the only reason it gets lines that long is because of the A/C but it is a fun ride for me everytime because well you don't know where you're going.
Hmmm 500 foot 4-d named Patriot.... sounds like somebody either has high hopes or is really gullible. But i guess that option is always there. Except for space because Cedar Point is running out of space. ;)
The world looks better at 420 feet in the air... first ride May 14th, 2005
only 997 laps left on MF..
So i resurrect dead post... is that a bad thing?
I'm sure we'll never see DT opened up as Avalanche Run once was. Rumor has it, the ride was covered because it was too loud and the trough was collecting too much sand. Besides, the building is being used as a giant storage closet and it houses one of Halloweekend's haunted houses.

How about if they do close it moving it to Geauga Lake uncovered as boblsed again? That would be sweet!
Demon,
I can understand the sand problem due to its current location, but if it were moved back into FT would that still be a problem?
As for loud, I can't imagine it being a whole lot louder than any of the other coaster in the park. Raptor couldn't sneak up on Helen Keller with an ether rag in her mouth, so I don't think noise could be that big a deal on Avalanche. And they could always do some extra dampening when it gets moved to help with noise if it really is a problem.

Location really was the problem for AR. There weren't too many other "loud" rides during the era of AR. One of the only memories I have of that ride is hearing it's "moaning" while being on the main midway. There was a post on here awhile back from an ex-employee who worked the Turnpike Cars in '85 and he would have several park guests inquiring if the sounds they heard from AR were an approaching thunderstorm. The Turnpike Cars are a pretty good hike from AR. Given AR's location, practically being next to the parking lot by all of the exec's houses (Kinzel's particularly), it's safe to say that someone wasn't happy with hearing that ride from their window every morning. Going back to the original ride's theming or removing it's structure and opening it up again isn't really going to save the ride. It was never very exciting to begin with.

Lol. Speaking of rumors and such, I was at CP over the weekend, and some park employee told my brothers and sister a rumor about next years roller coaster. He told them it was a 500 ft. roller coaster that was like X at SFMM and would be called Patriot.Just when you think you've heard it all....
has some one been hanging around lemon chill guy?
Oh my God! Can we please stop it with the Lemon Chill Guy? I swear, ANY time any one brings up ANY rumor, it has to deal with him. The joke was funny a few years ago, but has gotten really old. I swear he's being mentioned in about 5 different threads right now as we speak, and by people who, according to their profiles, have only joined within the past year, and have a fairly limited number of posts. Its an old joke that we need to really move past with. Thank you. Done with my rant.
DT needs to be completely removed. If the storage space is so important, why not build a ride similar to LoCoSuMo at Indiana Beach?

noobs like to mention the lemon chill guy so that other noobs will read it and ask about it, then the first noob can explain what it means to the other noobs, thereby making himself/herself feel like less of a noob, for having explained something. i vow to never type the word 'noob' again.
An idea I might get grilled about. Why not turn it into something like Exterminator at Kennywood. I was there this weekend and got the chance to ride it after a 2 year break from there. Granted this ride will beat the crap out of you if not prepared for it.

I love this ride along with many other people and thought that the DT building would be perfect if they were to revamp DT.

I know that it is not a high capacity ride at Kennywood, but hell they let cars with just people go all the time. With CP, I'm sure they could get that capacity up. Just a thought from my weekend visit to Kennywood.
