New DT idea...

Ok, so we all know DT is really lacking in the themeing department but i've got an idea. Disney MGM Studios has what seems like a great ride in Rock N' Roller Coaster. It is also indoors. Think they could do something like that with DT? not the music theme since obvioulsy that has been used. But maybe something else.

You mean decorate an indoor ride to a theme? I never would have thought anyone would ever try to theme an indoor ride to something. You know what, CP did this once. There was this ride called Diaster Transport. It used to be an old junky roller coaster. But in 1990 they themed it to be a ride where you had to escape from space pirates in Alaska. This was really cool until they let the theming just kind of rot. Now it's just a building. But yeah, I like the idea of trying to decorate it like something.

haha real funny. but im talking about adding music to it too tard. and something new. since we all see that it is just a building and a roller coaster.

Old junky coaster? Avalanch Run wasn't that old when they themed it, less than 10 years I think.

You know why can't you just keep it to your self? Is it that hard not to be rude? Anyway I think GitToThePoint has a point. In a way mabe if there was a diffrent themeing idea put in place maybe it would be better.

CP4eva04, I agree, let the poor guy talk for god's sake, isn't that what we are here for? To talk about CP?

Avalanche run opened in 1985. It was rethemed in 1990. That's 5 years for those who can't add. ;)

MD, I can add, didn't feel like looking it up like you did. And last time I checked, 5 is less than 10.

What is your guys' problems?! ITS A ROLLER COASTER!!!!!!!!!! Enthusiasts, like us love roller coasters. I can't see how you guys can hate a roller coaster!?!?!? I think its just fine the way it is. It is a break from the heat going into the AC and its dark. If you guys bring your G/F sit in the last row and make out with her for crying out loud. I think it is perfect how it is.

All he said in his post is get a new theme. That's been said here so many times. We all know that everyone wants DT to get a new theme. Been there heard that.

Fastball you're a bit of a prick. i was just saying think about taking it the a level past what it started as. Yes CP doesn't have the best theme record. ( look what happened to TTD. but wasnt that also because of performace?) but come on dude. and rollerdude was right. its a coaster. real enthusiat don't hate because of what the ride has become.

GitToThePoint, I guess you will get used to Fastball84, he is a cranky, whiney, little pain in the butt. Just ignore him.

I wouldn't be shocked to see DT gone within a year or two after Mr. K retires. The whole themeing of Avalanche Run into DT was his baby. Some are of the opinion he is the only reason it is still there. Personally I like the ride. I liked it a whole lot more with all the themeing in tact (even the whiner of a robot that complained all the time). That monster planet projection at the top of the hill was really cool. It was Earth wasn't it? Of course if they did remove DT they'd have to find someplace to put Pharo's Secret for Halloweekends! Haunted houses are cool...

Would they remove it? i mean i can see since SOME people think it isnt the best ride but still, its a beginner/family coaster (at least id say so) plus its indoors which they dont have many of at CP and its in the A/C. great for those hot summer days.

Just said I wouldn't be shocked to see it go. I know a few people there wouldn't mind seeing it go the way of the Jumbo Jet heh heh. We should probably save the 'what are they going to replace DT with?' thread for a couple of years. I would guess it will be status quo for at least the next 2 years. :)

Funny to see a DT thread on here tonight. I just got back from the park and heard from a park employee that DT was the area of the park to possibly get a new coaster next year, "Around DT somewhere is what I was told, but this is a just a rumor" . so he said... anyway who knows..?

Apparently opinions are only valid if you agree with the person who created the thread.

The ride would be much better if they just killed ALL the lights. Make it a completely dark ride with none of the blacklight stuff. Why they haven't caught onto that yet I don't know, but maybe they are making just enough off the "3-d glasses" to make it worth it. What's even funnier is that on every other ride you have to have a strap to wear glasses, and on DT they are trying to sell you glasses (sans strap) to wear on the ride.

You won't see DT go anytime soon. It still produces lines beyond what Mean Streak, Corkscrew, and other rides have.

One thing I think people are forgetting is that we might possibly see DT move to the back of the park. Maybe next year is the year we see DT return to it's previous state as an open bobsled coaster, themed along the lines of the "water park" area. Sure would remove that eyesore on the beach and the new DT would have some pretty stunning views of the Lake. But this is all speculation, of course ;)

Lol. Speaking of rumors and such, I was at CP over the weekend, and some park employee told my brothers and sister a rumor about next years roller coaster. He told them it was a 500 ft. roller coaster that was like X at SFMM and would be called Patriot.
