Hello there...i was on the platform last year on the train from June on till the end of the year.... During the slow times and when u had people it was simple...and hours depended..for a while i had some good hours over 50

Its long hard, it never pulls out early and u always have a full load in ur station every 5 minutes

I'm going to be working on the platform, I think. I told them that I wanted to do the announcements on the microphone. I hear you switch, though. Any further thoughts?
yes you do rotate...i was the team leader in 99...they dont rotate....but crew does between the frontier town and main stations..then there are positions platform, speils, gatehouse, conducter where you ride the back of the train and signal it out. I always enjoyed the train.the only down part for guys working it is they have to wear long engineer pants..girl have theres in short forms...let me know if you need any other ? answered
Thanks, Traingirl....When you worked on the train, did you do the mornings or night? Is there a typical kind of scedule? I'm not sure what else to ask..just tell me whatever else you think I need to know about that..
hey Rc

these are the norm shifts for most rides

O-C open to close
O-6
O-8
11:30-C
1:30-C
split shift O-1:30 leave come back 6:00-C
there is also an extra shift on train for a 2 train operation 10:30 to close
the train also has to do Laser light show duty on 11:00 closings.
When I worked the train it was back when crews werent coed...the first year we had all girls..second when people came to help it was whoever they could get.....but make sure you wave to me at MF i will be working there weekends only may and june and sept and oct...i may add more time ...my hubby and i do this for fun now we both work fulltime during the week.we are the older folks working rides at CP.Thats why im working MF i dont want to walk lifts no more my 38 yr old body cant handle it no more lol...i hope to meet you
Those seem like pretty long shifts. How many hours did you normally put in on that train, anyway?

Have u worked here before...in acutal its not really that bad...last year i worked a few 70 hours a week...its just when the hot sun gets u..bring some suntan lotion for ya
This will be my first season. I'd like to do a good amount of work, but I also want to have some time for fun. I just hope the whole train thing does not over-do it for me, so that I'm too tired to do anything else or not have anough time. If I spend the whole summer just working, I could never want to be in Cedar Point. That would be horrible.

Oh no there is still time for work...there will be weeks where u have time off dont worry...it wont be like that all the time...i had a great time my first year there on the train..i made good friends infact u will have some crew from last year that where great and good to work with ...watch for those brits....hhahahah
What do you mean by brits?

British...we had some hard working ones on our train u will love them

Its long, hard, it never pulls out early and theres nothing like a full load in ur station every 5 minutes
yes they are long hours....but if they get staffed good...then they wont be that bad..last year there wasnt alot of O-C's...my first year in 98 we did alot.....and dont forget there are plenty of ride nights after park closes...and big bash and parties and movies on the beach...you will have a great time.....
You get me nervous about working there. It seems like so much work!! I'm tired already.

You know i dontknow how people...get worried...i had a blast last year u dont have no worries i promis u...

thats...right you will have a blast....my first year was the best of the 4 i have been there
It's not so bad since everyone else is working the long hours just like you. I sometimes was envious of the people with their 60 hour paychecks, since at the pet farm, you never get those kind of hours. My first summer I actually would rather work than have time off, since my friends would still be working and there would be no one to hang out with.

See..the one problem is my girlfriend is going to work at Cedar Point too. She's going to work in the hotels, though. I worry sometimes that I will not have anough time with her.
RCRich,
don't worry about having time to spend with the one's that you love. There is always sometime to be with the people you want to be with. Remember this, if she is living on CP property then you can stay with her at night and vice versa. I met my girlfriend at the point (we are still together) and we spent as much time as we could with each other. There is even the possiblity of getting yourself scheduled off the same days during the week so you can have a full day together. It's nice and fun and Louie's is the place to be...don't worry about being tired you always can find the energy to have fun.
