NEW CEDAR POINT TEASER.

I just noticed in the on-point blog that Tony posted a teaser pic of what I am assuming is a reference to the next new ride?? Anybody have any ideas or thoughts on this?

Really, that's what you get out of that? Stretch much?

Maybe they are restoring the beach to its 1870 original glory;)

My guess is the replacement of Tofts Ice Cream to Graeters next season... Graeters has been 'Since 1870'.

I don't know about that. There seemed to be a bit of an uproar when then replaced Toft with Ben and Jerry a few years back.

From the CP website:

"...In the summer of 1870, local businessperson Louis Zistel opened a small beer garden, bathhouse and dance floor on the peninsula. He would bring guests over to Cedar Point on his steamboat, Young Reindeer, for the modest price of 25 cents. By the 1880s it was noted in the local paper that “sailing and bathing parties to Cedar Point are all the rage.”

And I thought it was a new 1,870 foot looping steel coaster...darn....

Will be interesting to see what they do with this -- but when they didn't renew the contract with the Paddlewheel Lake excursion for this year from the Marina dock, they also announced it would be returning later in a different form. Wouldn't be surprised if this is part of the teaser -- a new dock and new plan for the Paddlewheel out on the lake --

The first boardwalk in America was built in 1870 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Hmmm....

They definitely need alternative transportation from Castaway Bay. That would mean fewer cars taking up parking in the main lot. That could bring back memories of the original boats. Guests staying at the Breakers etc. could visit Castaway Bay without risking losing their parking spots.
The new Boardwalk will be a great addition. Would love to see the plans for that.

I wonder how long it will be before we find out.

I bet this will be an announcement outlining the hotel and beach improvements that are coming. Makes sense since CP started in 1870 with the beach.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Based on the 1870 clue, I have a couple ideas :

1. The first subway in NYC opened in 1870. Maybe a subway connecting the front and back of the park? Or the mainland to the front gate?

2. Christmas was declared a federal holiday in 1870. Perhaps they are revisiting the Christmas in the Park idea?

3. The Vatican declares Papal Infallibility to be official church doctrine in 1870. Are we getting a DaVinci Code themed dark ride?

4. A Beer Garden, Dance Hall, and Bathhouse opened on the Cedar Point Peninsula. Maybe the date references the founding of entertainment on the Point and will have something to do with improvements out on the beach?

I'd be willing to bet at least one of my predictions is correct :)

So, the 1870 thing has nothing to do with Cedar Point's first operating season?

To be honest, I had no idea CP started in 1870... :) Don't pay much attention, I suppose.

CP did start in 1870, and Betty White was the first in attendance!
