My Trip

This is my CP trip from last year. Just joined today, so I wanted to post it today. Some of you might remember me. I was the one with the Homsar shirt.

August 13th 2004

7:33AM
Sister comes over to come with us like planned, set the alarm, and left.

Around 10:15AM
We get to the park, and the profanities start flying in the parking lot from my dad over bad and stupid drivers. Provided my sister a HUGE laugh.

Around 10:30AM
Sister gets in line for the Dragster, and a hour and a half later, is on, the realistic vroom vroom motor starts and the oper or someone says: "Arms down. Head Back. And hold on!" Then the LIM's go down and as i like to say, and I did durning every launch, "Thumbs Up!" Then the lights of the tower went yellow yellow yellow green, and when it hit green everytime, I said: "Boogie Down!" And my sis went flying 18 seconds later, she was back, petrified. What a laugh!

From this point on, i didn't know what time it was, so i'll do the best I can.

Around 12:00PM
We go over to the train to get to Frontier Town, all of that gravel flew in our faces, worst train ride ever. Sister and dad ride the Jemini (sp?) Then it starts to rain. Not heavy rain, just a trickle, then about 10 mins later, it ends.

Around 1:00PM
We head over to Blue Streak and me and my dad ride it...........the whole time "Jeezus Christ" was flying everywhere along with the screams that today, still hurts my throat. My butt hurt after that too. next we went to the Antiqe (sp?) Cars and had a blast! Then went over to the other Antiqe (sp?) Cars and had another blast with those. Then we go over to the train and ride it back to Frontier Town then mom and dad hop on the log flume. Wet all over at the end of that. Then we went over to the first Antique (sp?) Cars and after that, rode the Turnpike Cars twice in a row.

Wicked Twister was closed all day and TTD only closed once due to maintince. But absolutely NO rollbacks all day! And Mellinium was only closed once, for something that went wrong. Got that back running quickly. All the rest of the coasters were open all day. We left at 8:15PM and got home at 10:00PM

So all-in-all we had a great time, dodging all of the seagulls which one bird "Allmost took my head off!" said my sis. Looking foward to going back agian real soon.

Good report and sounds like it was a fun trip.

AntiqUe was spelled right the last time, remember that never (in English anyway) is a "Q" not immediately followed by a "U".

Also, this brought a question to mind and maybe someone can answer for me. The brake fins on TTD are just metal fins correct, they aren't actually part of a LIM system?

John

Well really, I don't know. All i knos is when they went down, off the train went.

The fins on TTD are rare earth braking magnets to slow the train in case of a rollback.

So basically, don't get your credit cards near them?

Goodbye MrScott

John

How are they rare?

<Matt>
101 on Magnum and counting...

bholcomb,

The fins themselves are not magnetic; they are a copper alloy.

CP4eva'04,

The permanent rare earth magnets are called that because they are composed of metals that are called "rare earth metals". These are metals like Samarium, Dysprosium, Neodymium, Cerium, and all the other f-valence atoms in the 6th period of the Periodic Table. These metals are called rare because they do not naturally occur in large quantities.
