My Rants..

I'm thinking we need to call a WHAAAA-mbulance, and wonder if we need to get some ketchup for those french cries? ;)

But seriousely-for those of us who have been on this site forever, we have heard FAR more rants and raves then we care to, so please don't take negative comments about the complaining personally. The food/drink price comments are easily rectified-it's called bring your own. The ONLY complaint missing here is about Mean Streak-all others have been heard over and over and over again!!!

Jo,

And complaints about Mean Streak haven't?

Surely, you jest. ;)

I really wouldn't complain too much about a $8.00 value meal. Last time I went to Jacobs Field, I think I remember paying about $12.00 for a burger, fries and a drink. They also don't give you lids, and they don't even have salt packets. CP prices are not out of line at all for entertainment venues.

------------------
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

As for the parent+kids blocking the line:

It can be frustrating for the line not to move, but if there is a line, you will catch up to it as soon as the parent gives up. If there is not a line, you won't be waiting much longer (maybe a few minutes).

On the subject of slow foodservice, there are a few stands in the park (sky ride refreshments comes to mind) that seem awfully slow. Maybe we consistently hit the stand at a bad time after they've been cleaned out of chicken strips and have to make more, or maybe they just don't pipeline correctly.

On the subject of expensive food. It is competitive with other entertainment venues, but that doesn't make it cheap. This is a good reason to eat breakfast before going in, and to leave a cooler in the picnic area. Leaving the park to go to your cooler to eat is also a great rest break in the midst of a busy day. For just a few dollars more than a midway value meal, you can go to e.g. the Boathouse and get a great sandwich, sweet potato fries (with caramel dipping sauce!) a salad, and a drink with sit-down service, and that includes tax and tip.

------------------
It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

I agree with Old Timer on this one. When it comes to prices for food, parking, admission, souvenirs, etc you have to take a look at the entire industry and entertainment in general. I laugh when people complain about the parking fee. It costs $20 to park at Pro Player Stadium in Miami for a 2 hour football game. (And in most cases you are parking in a dirt lot.)

As for rides being closed, that is a legitimate gripe...outside of TTD. The Mine Ride trains should all be functioning properly.

$22 for a t-shirt isn't too bad (considering concert t-shirt prices). I bought one this year of the "fearsome five"

As far as McDonalds, for a quick snack we eat chicken sandwiches off the $1 menu. We stayed at Breakers Express so we had to drive clear to the other McDonalds to grab a quick bite because the McDonalds by the park only has like 3 things (no burgers) on their menu. My thought is McDonalds is McDonalds. They should all be the same! LOL

Doesn't the East of Chicago on the Causeway have a $6 lunch pizza buffet? I've thought about checking that out as a cheap alternative to eating at the park, although I usually just pack my own food.

No Robin, the McD's on the causeway has the regular McD's menu. Burgers, Big Macs, fish, etc.

I apologize... I should have been more specific in that MOST McDonalds have chicken sandwiches on their $1 menu.. In Oklahoma, McDonalds has double cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches and one other "burger" on their $1 menu."

Also, we ate at that pizza place. It is pretty good for the price.

Ralph - the EOC buffet comes highly recommended. Good pizza at a good price.

Robin - it's kind of like McDonalds on the turnpike. Prices are slightly higher for your convenience. I haven't really noticed this recently, but back in the day, prices for gasoline and fast food would 'mysteriously' jump the first Saturday in May. McD's and others would increase their menu prices by about 30ยข/item. Just another thing the locals gripe about :)

Sorry about posting this thread Jeff but I think its justified..

1) Whats up with CP overcharging for a large pop and not giving you a lid or a straw for your drink? Don't they know that mayflies love to swarm into your drink?

2) Hamburger combo (Fries and medium drink) price is $8. Now, If I remember isnt there a McDonalds right outside the park? I mean, ok, This rant may not be justified because you are on their land and you have to pay whatever the price is for food (I could debate this but lets not.) but to charge .80 cents for count it ONE pickle is alittle exteme..

3) T-Shirt prices, Now I haven't bought a T-Shirt from CP since the cost of T-Shirts was $12. Now they are $22.. Interesting..

4) TTD sign says the ride is working and you get your hopes up to ride the darn thing and BOOM!, The sled goes up and goes right back down to the launching pad..Nice rollback. Could they at least not lie about the ride working?

5) Don't you love it when you try to get into line at the front turnstyles and some people love to block off the line because their child is too small to ride? Please move to the side and argue your point even though you are going to lose. (Trust me I have been there many times.)

6) The Cedar Creek Mine ride, Okay, How long is train #3 back car going to broke? It was broke last year and again this year? Did someone negelct to tell them that standing in line for the back car when CP is running 2 trains is not fun.

Okay, enough of my venting, if you have anymore please post.

I'm gone for ten days and what did I miss? More pointless arguing. Anyway, I think it's not that unreasonable to want a lid and a straw. Flimsy paper cups=sloshing. Maybe it's just me, but I always end up splashing somebody with pop.

If you have an issue with the food, go to McDonalds. If you are a season parking pass holder you can come and go from the lot as you please. If you are paying the $8 for 1 day, why not take advantage of the little coupon on the bottom of your parking stub? It is for a free return causeway pass. I use it all of the time. They just rip the bottom off and let you back in the lot.

Some, well okay, most of you here, obviously cannot handle a little criticism of the park. Some of you are too full of yourselves and your vision that absolutely nothing is wrong or no one has had a bad experience at Cedar Point. Welcome to reality. Not everyone will share the same: "Cedar Point is perfect. Everyone likes everything about Cedar Point."

Regarding leaving the park and returning: CP doesn't advertise this fact, but if you ask at the parking booth, they will tell you that in fact you are allowed to leave the parking lot and return (once) using your parking stub for readmittance.

This means that you can get your hand stamped, leave the park (and parking lot), go into town for some reasonable food, get back into the parking lot with your stub, and get back into the park with your hand-stamp.

Again, they don't advertise this, but it is their policy. (You just have to know which questions to ask.

or you can just go the fridays at breakers. nice view. air conditioning. awesome potato skins. it's the place to go for a

If you are paying the $8 for 1 day, why not take advantage of the little coupon on the bottom of your parking stub? It is for a free return causeway pass.

I only go for one day a year. I do not want to waste my time leaving the park to go get food. I actually spend very little time eating while I'm in the park . . .when I grab a pop and pretzel and snarf them down as I run to get in line for Chaos, I do not want to get food all over myself. But that is just me, perhaps the anti-lid people enjoy that.

Look at last season when for about 2 months(?) the Pepsi machines were $3.00. Sales must of lagged as the price did come down to $2.50.

Compare CP to other entertainment choices and I bet you will see the VALUE, CP offers.

On a lighter note, and not as a rant. Aren't they getting the 3$ anyhow? One trip on the Raptor and those wonderful two quarters that the Pepsi machine just gave me back are somewhere down on the lawn just waiting for the grounds crew to pick up anyhow. If you would like something for free stop buy one of the food areas and ask for a cup of water. I still think it is slick to get quarters back which will likely fall out of your pockets anyhow.

Yeah, Get Over It, that is their big scheme. They give you change back so you will just lose it later. That must explain the budget line item in Operations entitled "Loose Change". There is a logarithm that helps them target within $10 the amount of loose change they will collect each year.
