My First Opening Day

Wow...this was no doubt my best trip to the point...ever. I arrived at the park around 10:30 am and immediatley headed towards TTD to get a look at this tihng we've all been tracking since "the wall". Absoultey amazing. Here's how my day went down.

My first ride of the day was on Gemini, one of my favorites. We waited in an outside-the-queue line for about 10 minutes. when they finally let people on, we were on the second train...seemed a little slow, but that's to be expected. It's a pity that they only ran one side though.

After the first coaster ride of the year, I headed over to Magnum. I laughed when I saw people being stamped for freeway...I walked straight in line and waited no more than 15 minutes. At this point, Magnum was #1 on my list, but I'm sure you all know how that goes. If anyone was in the train with the guy frantically screaming "Please no trims...they better not trim it!" on the second hill....well that was me. I figured it would be trimmed, but I can only hope for my first non-trimmed Maggie ride. So the whole turnaround was me screaming "Man they trimmed it!". Still a great ride, and still got some nice air. We headed off Maggie and passed TTD to get to Wicked Twister..Which at the time was my #2 (Yes, both Maggie and WT rank higher than MF on my list). I got up to the air gates to have the lady tell me I can't wait for my favorite seat. Now, while I realize she was doing her job "as she told me", I was still a bit irked, since on two seperate occasions last year I could wait for that seat. Anywho, still a great ride.

Now it was about 12:30. I then saw a miracle. Raptor had a 1/2 hour line. I just about passed out. My stepdad and I proceeded to jump into the queue. The line only took about 15-20 to get through...the ride was great as always...but a complaint...not on CP's part. I wish B&M would make restraints like Intamin. I'm really skinny, and at this point I'm in "Mid-click" as you could say. So my restraint was moving forward to the next click (and back) and now matter how hard me or my stepdad pushed, it wouldn't go the next click. Painful ride while great...Bounced around during all the inversions except the loop (which is my favorite part). While getting off, we saw a walk on on Bluestreak, so we went and took a run in the backseat. As I was waiting for the next train to pull in, an approxmatley 5 minute line grew behind us...in which one of the lady ride-ops near me exclaimed "Hey, we finally have a line!"...I just laughed and got on the train...still the same great air as always.

Now, we get some fries, and go to ride TTD. Now earlier in the day, the line was up to the exit of the station, but now it had died down to just inside that cement mini-tunnel. Now, I haven't waited in a line long er than 20 minutes, so I figured I could handle a 4 hour wait. Turned out to be 5 and a half...

I don't know if anyone is to blame, but they really should have ran at least 4 trains. They were running Green, Red, Blue (in that order), and it had some funky intervals. They would load the Green and Blue. Then both would exit the station-One to the brake before tha launch ,and one to the waiting area behind that. The red would come in and fill with the first station area. But when the blue got back, it wouldn't go up to the second. It would wait until the green train was unloaded. Then they would both move into the two spots. Now, if they would have ran 4 trains instead of three, they would have had a constant stream of trains going, and the wait wouldn't have been 5.5 hours. But with three, the green would launch. Right after that was done, the red would launch. Then there would be a VERY long pause while the blue and green reloaded. The same would happen over again. This really threw off the intervals. But oh well.

I got my blue train (blue is my favorite color) and MY GOD. This is THE best coaster ever created. I have no idea how CP will top themselves. The ride is incredible! I give major pops to the ride ops. While the intervals were whack with only 3 trains, boy did they work smoothly. I loaded my train and they managed to pull everyoens seatbelt and staple everyone (which is obviously needed) in record time. It was hilarious...the lady pulled my seatbelt, and then said "Ready?". I thought she meant the ride, so I was all "yeah!"...she goes "breathe on three...one, two, three". I sucked in, and she shoved/stepped/leaned all her weight on my restraint...and wow was that painful. I did my "ow" and she goes "don't worry, it'll be gone in a few seconds". Boy was she right. No matter how far they staple you, you lift out of your seat at the top of that hill...and it's amazing. The launch was a bit much for me (the g's), but the hill was amazing. Looking down on MF was nuts. The drop on this coaster will NEVER be matched...not even by 500 foot coasters. You get whipped over the top and you just start spinning. You don't realize how fast 120 is until you ride this. But you can't even fathom how high 420 feet is without riding. When in the line, it looks tall, but it dosn't carry a monstrous persona. But when you are going up it, you think "That's freaking high!". The drop is magnificent...Twisting, the whirlwind of yellow and red and the ground...it's all amazing. I was suprised they didn't have the christmas tree lights by they launch working. It was so weird to have a bunch of people staring at you while your about to launch. But nothing will ever top that ride. The adrenaline rush is incredible. And may I say that the cardboard front for the pictures are kick-booty as well. So thanx to all who got the rides going smooth and helping me enjoy my first opening day. I have not one complaint about the staff, and that is what I love about Cedar Point. Gotta beat 4 trips this year....

Edit- While waiting in line for TTD, we saw Power tower get stuck midway on the "up" side (weird)...and I noticed something. Maybe everyone has and I'm slow, but the drop side of PT? The inside is Teal and Yellow. WT's colors? Teal and Tellow. The Launch side of Power Tower? Red and Yellow. TTD's colors? Red and Yellow. Quinkiedink? I think not.

Edit 2-I forgot to mention the 2 most important words of the day. "Bathroom Pass". Some guy, about 4 1/2 horus into waiting, was way back in line, then decided to get a bathroom pass. When he came back, he went up with his friends, 4 hour wait worth ahead. This happened right behind me. The people behind them got mad (fully acceptable). Wound up the op's took him and his 3 friends out of the line, and apparantly out of the park. To cheers, one of them flicked the line off, which got laughing and louder cheers...lol

That is hilarious! Some people jusr don't understand what line jumping really is! You can't let your friends hold your place in line and go use the "bathroom" for 4 hours.

Race to the Sky(420 feet) for your thrill of a lifetime! Then plunge down 400 feet for the heck of it!
So wait.. are you saying that this ride's 15 seconds is actually more fun than MF's 3 whole minutes??

IT CANNOT BE! haha

TTD2003, they were giving our bathroom passes, meaning you could get out of line, use the rest room, and get back into line in the same place. What got this fellow into trouble was not going back to his original place, but going up further to be with his friends.

Would that be like you and your family jumping in line at the Magnum gate Opening Day morning when you saw Kara and her boyfriend? Hypocrite!
