My First Coastermania TR

Ill do a more longer version in the future, but I throughly enjoyed my day yesterday, all 18.5 hours or it here are some quick points:

-First of all Raptor: 4, Blue Streak: 1, DT: 1, MF: 5, Maverick: 4, Gemini: 2 (1 trimless,) TTD: 2, Magnum: 17, 15 in a row without getting off during the ERT (2 trimless.) Im having a hard time walking at the moment, but it was so worth it. I also did mainly flats, and the Q&A, lunch and about 3 hours in Soak City filled up most of my time during normal park operating hours, so of the 36 coaster rides I got yesterday, 30 were during ERT.

-When we got to the gate to check in the park surprised us with a really nice free sweatshirt, it was a sign of things to come, the park went all out today. Free Donuts and Coffee were available during the morning ERT, lunch was fantastic we had brats, Famous Dave's chicken, Lasagna, Potato Salad, Cookies, Ice Cream, Cotton Candy, and at the tables a mound of caramel apples and taffy too, like I said, the park went all out yesterday. Maverick also got added to the evening ERT, and when the weather delayed the beginning of Gemini ERT they extended it so it would still be an hour.

-At some point during morning ERT, Bill amended the policy or re rides so we could all do so (during Coastermania only) which was really nice by the time evening ERT came around.

-One of the Magnum ride ops, worked the entire event (he was on MF in the morning) and I know I saw a Raptor ride op at the front of the queue who was there from opening till 8:30 (at least.) I dont know how they do it, period but both were still in a great mood, as was almost everyone was at the park. I tried to thank as many people as possible yesterday, but Ill put it here again. They put on a wonderful event yesterday, one were I was continually blown away with the extent they went to make us all feel like VIPs (which is something I dont ever view myself as just because Im an enthusiast) from the ride ops all the way up to the CEO and EVPs. If any of you are reading this, thank you all again!

Yes, by far the best Coastermania I've ever been to. This is only my fourth year in a row, but regardless - the park is doing it right again this year.

I know it's still pretty early in the season to say this, but Cedar Point seems to have flipped a switch this season, and the "magic" is back. Nothing could make me happier.

I wasn't jealous until you said free lasagna and famous daves chicken....

What kind of lasagna was this?
And I heard it got to 94 degrees in Sandusky? Did you guys roast?

^I dont know what kind it was. And yes, it was hot, but I spent the worst part of the day in Soak City (either on the river, or taking a nap) so I did not roast :). The warm weather was actually nice because it meant that it was really confortable during the ERT sessions.

Ah I wonder what this is like in comparison to BooBuzz. I want to get one of these coaster memberships, but I don't want to spend a lot.

Was the lasagna good?

This year was my first year to CoasterMania, so I have nothing to compare it to, but yesterday was great.

One thing though. Did any of you that were at Q&A notice how the one guy (I can't seem to remember his name; he was the closest person to the podium on the left side) worded his sentence about Mean Streak when asked about maybe replacing it with a better woodie? He said "Taking Mean Streak down is going to be painful." It just struck me funny at how he used the present tense instead of just saying "...would be painful." It could just be me, but did you guys notice it? Maybe it's just my imagination running wild...

Man, I can't wait to go to Coastermania next year. I had plans and hotel reservations to go this time around, but a family emergency prevented it THE NIGHT I WAS LEAVING. :(

Oh well, great to hear what I have to look forward to!

Coastermania was excellent this year! My brother and I headed up there
the night before and camped out at Bayshore Estates campground. We brought
his canoe and set up camp on the shores of the bay. We took the canoe out
and paddled it all the way up to the south end of the main parking lot (see
new profile pic). ERT was awesome the next day, along with the great lunch!

I am sure that Jeff would get in here eventually and promote the CoasterBuzz club where for only $20 a year you can get a membership into a coaster club that most parks will except (I know it works for Coastermania and BooBuzz, Jeff can probably describe it better than I can :)

After being a member of ACE for 4 years and taking 2 years off I decided to go the cheaper route and have so far not had any trouble what so ever with it.. Plus it gives me add free surfing on the site and helps support these sites, and the podcast which I love.
And by the way Jeff, where is this weeks podcast!

THANKS JEFF!!
