My appologies!

But, I need to get this off my chest. I just got home from a trip to MI. ADV. Dare I say that it is the better park from a fathers standpoint. My four year old could ride most everything there. He's 43" tall. He had the time of his life. As did I, for that reason. The prices, overall, were much more tolerable than those at CP. And, it was much cleaner. I though CP was pretty clean, until today. We were lucky enough that we went on a very slow day, as every ride was a walk-on. We arrived at 4:20 pm, and the park closed at 8:00 pm. We rode everything in the park, except the kiddie rides, three or four times. In fact, my 4 year old (Zack) and I rode Zacks Zoomer non stop for about 45 minutes. I don't think I've ever had so much fun on a coaster in my life. I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree. I only rode Shivering Timbers once because it is ten times rougher than Mean Streak. I couldn't even enjoy it, it was so rough. It would be a great coaster, if not for that.

All in all, not the greatest rides in the world. They'll never top CP in this category, nor will any other park. CP is still my favorite, but I had a blast! If not for my kids, this story would definitely be on a different level, though.

I appologize to the moderators if this shouldn't be here, butI had to tell my tale. If it's in the wrong place, please put it where it belongs. But, let me know, ok? Thanks!

Obviously you didn't check the prices of shirts in the gift shops. $70 for a sweatshirt?!?

What's with the attitudes around here? Between the initial replies on the "Source of Dragster's troubles revealed" thread to the armchair moderation, it seems everyone is so jumpy.

I've never been to MA, so I can't give a fair comparison. Perhaps MA was the better park for you and your son on that particular day? Or maybe the fact that the park was empty and you walked-on everything skewed your opinion? Or maybe, for whatever intangible reason, you just had more fun. It seems to me that Cedar Point has a ton of stuff for kids at various levels. A quick count shows a child at 43" could enjoy 45 of Cedar Point's 68 rides.

No doubt, it sounds like you had an outstanding time. My son turns 11 months old today. He's getting closer and closer to graduating from the "hand-held infant" stage. Once he starts riding and really enjoying the park, my enjoyment of the park will be even greater. I am very much looking forward to the same kind of father/son time at CP with my son that you enjoyed at MA with yours.

I agree with the attitudes. Sheesh.

Dougster, I also think MiA is a great place for kids. I assume you didn't do the water park (which is included in the price, BTW). They do have a long way to go, but the improvements over the past 2 years are wonderful.

I'm just surprised you though ST was rough. I've never felt it was a rough ride, although it's filled with so many airtime "bounces" (hard ups and downs). There is also a great feature that many people do not expect...the trick track just after the double up on the way back. It jerks you laterally from side to side.

We're taking our 2 and 4 year olds (both CP and Soak City veterans at this point) to MiA next week. I'm looking forward to it; my 4 year old daughter rides Woodstock hands-up, and we're looking forward to sampling some more coasters (I believe she is eligible for both Zack's Zoomer and the Mad Mouse).

Walt: based on my limited experience with my kids so far, the park visits get better every year. I expect this trend to continue until my kids decide that its no longer cool to ride with dad. Erica took her first ride on Giant Wheel this past week, and was just twitterpated the entire time. She said the people looked like flowers from the tippy top. ;)

My son was not up for many of the more interesting rides last year; he did not like Jr. Gemini, Peanuts 500, or the Balloon Race. This year, Jr. Gemini is a must-ride every time we're in the park, as is Peanuts 500. He wasn't too fond of the Lollli Swings, but *loves* smooshing his parents on the Scrambler--go figure!

lol, i have a hard time understanding all these abbreviations.

Michigan's Adventure (www.miadventure.com) located in Muskegon, Michigan. Cedar Fair purchased the park two years ago.

MI. ADV is Michigan's Adventure.

I too am confused my the comment about ST being rough. When I went last year I rode it 11 times, and it was the smoothest woodie I'd ever been on. I thought it was smoother than a lot of the steelies I'd been on as well. It is an awesome ride.

My only complaint when I was there was them charging a quarter for ice water. I assumed it was free since it was a Cedar Fair park and CP's is free, so I was a little shocked when the lady yelled at me for walking away with the waters.

I love Michigan's Adventure too.

Loads of slides and three wavepools mean you're all done standing in line, the smaller midway makes for a laid-back, relaxed day and the coaster options for kids--well, they're just plain better. C'mon, there's a kiddie CCI for crying out loud.

It's a lovely counterpoint to a long, hard day at CP. Do 'em both.

I went to MiA this past saturday June 21st. and i had a blast! It is a great park! I had a few problems with the park, 1) the ride ops are very slow. And 2) everytime i looked up into the air i saw sky not coasters! lol i guess the last problem is more of a habbit then anything. We got there between 12 and 1 o'clock, and rode all 6 coasters and hit most of the slides in the water park. The park is nice and clear, the employees are nice and usually greet you with a smile. Nice collection of attractions and well worth the $23, of free if your a Cedar Fair season pass holder.

I loved Shivering Timbers, we were on the return strech and i screamed "WE GOT RIPPED OFF! ST SHOULD BE TRADED FOR MEAN STREAK!" My friends laughed and agreed.

Ok, let me set it straight. It wasn't a post to praise MI ADV. over CP. I'm fully aware that there is no contest here. I thought I'd expressed this before. It was only me saying what a great time I had there with my kids. Ok, so maybe it would've been better to put it in "Trip Reports". God forbid someone be inconvienienced by having to read my post. Although, it seems many have. Please, Jeff, or Walt, or somebody, move this to "Trip Reports"? Or, just delete it. I suppose, anyone who could appreciate it has read it. Sorry to all, again.

Dougster, great post :)

As for shivering timbers being rough, I was able to take 10 rides on it on Monday. After that, though, I couldn't take any more of it. It isn't really that rough at all, but its still wooden, and will still hurt you after a bunch of rides. Front seat is the best on ST as well. The waterpark is great as well, and its included. A very big plus. I don't like the no-reentry into the parking lot thing.. its $6 to park :/ But otherwise, its a great park, although I can't spend all day (9 am till 10 pm) at MiAdv. Just no way.

I can really see how dougster would like Mi Adv over CP, though. Theres more to do for little kids, for the most part. And theres never any lines. I would also think a kid would be better off trusted going on their own at Mi Adventure - Its not like they have 367 acres to get lost in!

Mi. Adventure is a great park. I just went there for my first time on Memorial Day but only stayed for a few hours. Shivering Timbers was worth the 2 and a half hour drive alone. We got 4 laps on it and it was amazing. I agree that MiA is indeed more family oriented and it'll be such a great place in the future to visit for often.
I guess I take living 20 minutes from the park for granted, i also do not see how u feel shivering timbers is rough, i love that rollercoaster. But yes MIA is a fun park, I can see CF putting some cool coasters there in the future, but thats of topic, thats awsome you had a fun day there with your son
