Moving

My family and my parents and sisters' families all live 50 miles away and go all the time. After a while you get used to the drive( 50 min)and it's not even an issue anymore. Before you know it you're there.

Before long you'll be driving yourself or with friends and you can go all the time. Just be patient.

It takes me 45 minutes total to get to PKI, and I go like 25+ times a year.

assuming gas stays at or below $2.50/gallon.

I wish it would but the price on oil per barrel is going to go up because oil refineries are switching to summer oil.....or something like that......it was on the news.:)

Blah blah blah... The news is crap, especially when it comes to news regarding oil. Remember the huge "shortage" when all the refineries were damaged during the hurricane season? And how they said short supplies would make it oh-so-expensive to keep up with demand? Well, during that fiscal quarter, the oil companies posted the highest profits of any company in any business EVER.

But, yeah - you're prolly right. Gas will probably hover around $3/gallon this summer, as the oil companies continue to lie to the press, and the press will pass those lies on to us, and the average uninformed citizen will freak out, accept the high prices and take out another mortgage. *sigh* I'm done now.

Our new PM said he would lower GST to 6%, so far he has not done a whole lot. Yea, we are taxed out the wazoo, 14% in Ontario. With our dollar the way it is, Cedar Point trips are looking cheaper this year.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

$20 is gas isn't bad. I'll be making around $65 or more a week when I start at Krogers. Ofcourse I make $6.50/hr at the highest paying Krogers. A summer job would definitely be a good idea, but work on getting one quickly before college students come home and take all the summer jobs.

Last summer I didn't have a license but I still managed to go 7 times between all of my friends parents, my family, and some of my older friends who could drive. I can drive this summer, but I have to be home before midnight. If I get caught by a cop, I can (and most likely) will get my license suspended for a year (not good when you have a job). *** Edited 3/27/2006 8:58:35 PM UTC by Kyle Dersch***

I miss $0.79 gasoline, many in their 50's and older miss $0.18 gasoline.

The point is how many years will our current use of gasoline last? The answer isn't an easy one either by figuring out or swallowing it. The only way to stop the supply from running out in such a case is to raise the price. Unforturnetly for everyone is that it requires a sharp increase in price to see much of a decrease in demand. Even to be able to perform maintenance on the oil refineries requires a price increase.

From what I've heard, Cedar Point is having to force people to work weekend with their bonus system. They aren't willing to compensate those who have to commute to Cedar Point. So they basically say that you have to work weekends or you don't get your bonus depending on how far away you live. After taxes and gas and other expenses, the employees that live further away end up with a fraction of their already weak pay.

Of course these prices make going to the park more expensive. This really isn't that large of an issue as some make it seem. This is expecially true for those that are spending the night. It's certainly more of an issue for those without a car or license to find a ride to the park. I've personally had plans fall through n times back in those days without my own transportation.

Ok thanks for the feedback. Actually I am going to caddy at a golf course that's a 5 minute walk from my house. I'll probably get around 20, 25 dollars per 18 holes.

I don't think the money is a big issue with me because I have over 200 in my room somehow. It's just that my parents are always busy and they don't enjoy as much as I do.

If your parents aren’t as excited about going to the park as you are, tell them they could do other stuff while your at the park. I am fortunate enough to have parents that love roller coasters and amusement parks like I do, but before I had my license, they had to drive me to the park. Even though they love coasters, they didn’t always want to go to the park like I did. So they would drop me and some friends off and they would go check out the rest of the area. Their into antique shops, so they would go to all of those around the area. Talk to your parents and throw out an idea like that.

I got another one. Tell them there's $1,000,000 somewhere in the park that they have to find.:)

As do I! And I was living in California at the time, which typically has more expensive fuel prices, and it was still in the $0.80-$0.90 range. Oh, well...

See, I have no problem with our gas prices being re-adjusted to more closely resemble the World average. What I have a problem with is bold-faced lies regarding the reasoning for the increases. I just want our government to be honest with me. Is that too much to ask? Okay... stupid question.
