The original was filmed in 2003. I thought it was 2004, but I just went back and found a picture I took while they were filming, and it is dated 2003.

PS- There is a DVD. You can buy it here: http://www.amazon.com/Close-Encounters-4th-Kind-Infestation/dp/B0007N46UK

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Not only does DK have a cameo, his daughter has a main role. Prepare the Oscar!

I just watched some clips off of youtube...I just have to say cheap cheap cheap and bad acting.

Terror Island Screamster 08', 09', 10', 11'

OK-- you guys finally got me to register to post (a long time reader of the threads on here -- just posting now -- so please don't all get on my case about a first time poster/ low post count).

Hey Campfreak, out of curiosity, did you get your $50 from your friend?

Maybe I should putting a bet out there this isn't the only genre of movie out there that's been filmed at Cedar Point (and that other directors have used the Point as a backdrop far with better acting and plot)... ;-)

If there is more like this movie I will be afraid to know about that. But Im sure there been more I know I seen one with someone doing a blare witch project short film during Halloweekends.

I would like to add that this reference to The Shining is hilarious! When I came up as a fundraiser in the spring of '05, one of the very first things I mentioned was how I expected to see a boy on a tricycle, trying to get away from the twin girls, rolling around the corner by our room. Everyone with me agreed that it was equally creepy there.

Yes.."The Shining" was originally supposed to be filmed at Hotel Breakers, but due to red tape..they had to re-locate, etc.

Also, if you have seen the independant film, "Edge of Seventeen" (1999) about a teen boy's self discovery and eventual "coming out of the closet" while working at a Cedar Point facisimile in the early 1980's was filmed ON location in Sandusky as well as aerial shots of the park.

Plus, the Cedar Point skyline was used in the TNT movie about Evel Knievel in 2004. They used CP's skyline for a jump at Kings Island in 1975. Even funnier is that MF is clearly shown, despite the fact that it's 25 years before it gets built.

Hehehe.. I remember the Evil Kneivel movie as my brother and I were huge fans as kids and try re-enacting his stunts in my backyard, much to the chagrin of my parents.

I recently returned from NYC where I physically "bumped into" Lea DeLaria who plays the "best friend/manager of Food Ops" in the Cedar Point inspired/filmed on location "Edge of Seventeen". I told her that I had seen the movie and worked @ the park for 4 years. She was VERY down to earth and cool and we chatted a bit about Cedar Point & Sandusky, etc. A great lady..scary, butch and punk...but great nonetheless!! Rent "Edge of Seventeen" today!! Not the "best" movie by FAR...but enjoyable for anyone who's worked for CP.

There was more than just aerial shots of the park in that film. -- A few parts of it were filmed in locations (some very popular ones) in the park, and a number of the after-work scenes were shot on location in places very close to the causeway.
(If you take a drive down 1st Street you might recognize a few of them. Another location is along an even more well traveled route, but you might not recognize it now.) ;)

Don't forget that scouters for the original Shining movie wanted to use the hotels on site, and would have filmed almost the entire movie at Cedar Point, but wanted to stage a car crash on the causeway, something Cedar Point wanted nothing to do with...unfortunately..

Are you serious? I can see it now. The Story takes place in Castaway Bay. Jack Nicholson is chasing a boy through the halls and waterpark. The boy escapes outside, runs through the midways, hops on skyride. Jack follows him and catches the next bucket. The buckets not going fast enough. So Jack climbs on to the tow rope. He shimmy's his way onto the top of the boy's bucket just as it reaches the platform. The boy continues running. He makes it to Breakers and runs into an unlocked room. Jack is close behind. Just then Jack looks in the mirror and notices the letters, "Red Rum"

LOL...I don't even remember making this post....It's totally not even something I'd come up with.

Ha! But that was back in the 70's, so cedar point could change their minds about a car crash scene. Besides, the Shining never had a crash scene in it. Just snow and blizzards and the "snow cat" the one guy drove.

They were probably going to use the old breakers hotel. before castaway was built. they could have a cool beach scene with Jack chasing Danny, the boy, around and in the hallways too.

The interior scenes of The Shining were filmed at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. It's a beautiful place, you can sit in the dining room at breakfast and watch elk through the huge windows. It also just happens to be where Stephen King stayed a good portion of the time he was writing the book. If you ever get the chance, it is a beautiful place to visit.
