Movie at Cedar Point

"Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael" with Winnona Ryder was shot in Sandusky. I saw her leaving her trailer when she was about to shoot a scene on the waterfront behind my business.

My friends mother was the "location coordinator" for shooting in Ohio. In fact my friends name appears in the movie as a Pastor on a church marquee. Which happened to be in Castalia (just down the road).

So movies can be shot anywhere if there is sufficent $$$ and the will to do it.

Rollercoaster took place at several locations and they even destroyed a woodie. For that reason I am glad it wasn't at Cedar Point!

"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful plance in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."

Another great movie would be Freddie vs. Jason 2! Or Holloween 21! Were everyone get stuck in the park with Michel Myers, Jason Vagor, and Freddie Cooper! Horror! hahahaha

X2 is the best movie ever!!!
I was in it!!!

How can a Coaster Crash? Like in the "Final Destination" Movies, the deaths are real, I doubt a coaster crash would be realistic...

Oh, a coaster doesnt make it over a hill and rolls back down, then the next train hits it... wow, there would be no explosions, just fiberglass, steel, and blood going everywhere.... depending on the speed of the collision....

Knowing Hollywood, explosions and like a nuclear bomb goes off in the back round ;)

A coaster crash would be great for FD3. However, seeing as a plane crash and a car crash are basically "generic" things (i.e. they don't make a place look bad), Cedar Point may not be the best place to do it.

On the other hand, "Terror Incognito" (aka Incredible Hulk) features the trains being dispatched seconds after each other and some of the trains leaving the track (though not crashing for some reason...), and RollerCoaster! would be the same idea - it may have caused some harm to Magic Mountain...

However, if RollerCoaster! did cause harm to Magic Mountain, it would've caused harm to parks everywhere. I'm sure FD made people afraid to fly and FD2 made people afraid to drive.

For those of you that didn't know, some of the movie Tommyboyu was shot in Sandusky, so why not CP. Greater setting IMO, than a warehouse on the street leadinf to CP from route 6.
according to International movie database. the movie wasn't filmed in sandusky. mostly just canada check it here http://imdb.com/Locations?0114694
There is one (and only one) shot of Sandusky in the movie IIRC.

The movie "Edge Of Seventeen" that coasterfreaky mentioned previously was an independent film that was shot entirely in Sandusky, Huron, and Vermillion. Stock footage of CP was used. Characters in the film worked at CP but it was called "Crystal Shores." I would guess that it would be very expensive to use CP's name.

Just an idea but what if they did a remake of National Lampoons Vacation and they drove form California to Cedar Point. That way they would only have to close the park for a day or so. Just an idea.

The scariest thing is realizing its all over.

It would take more than one day to film a seqeunce of similar length to the one in Vacation.

If the crew really rushed themselves, they might be able to fit the filming into the several days the park is closed after opening day. It might work if Spielberg signs to direct. He always directs faaassst. He shot Schindler's List in 75 days, which is over three hours long.

"Yeah, but John, if the Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists."

It would be funny if they did a modern version of the Shining. Danny (the kid) could be playing in the snow on the beach and one of the rides could start working by itself. And nobody else can see the train going...

It would be expensive, and I doubt anyone would ever make it. Just an idea.

Millennium Force is MY baby.
Where would we be without CP?:)

If they filmed a movie in Cp and showed one of the rides crashing like in some final destination film it give CP a erie feeling to the guests that cme their so they would never do a movie like that it woud completely be bad for buissnes.

Wow Thriller, I don't mean to be rude, but please check your spelling before posting, it makes it alot easier on all of our eyes. Just a friendly word of warning before anything else happens.

Trips to CP thus far: 7
Maggie - 18; Raptor - 14; WT - 11; MF - 11; ID - 6; BS - 6; Mantis - 5; Gemini - 5; TTD - 5 (3 in one day!); WE - 2; MS - 2; DT - 2; CCMR - 2; Corkscrew - 1; Wildcat - 1; Jr. Gemini - 0

You don't need to film the coaster crash @ CP just go to Japan @ Nackai Semia Spa land and film Iron Dragon 2000. After that coaster crash that killed to people with wheels. Some how it came of the track and another train hit it. Besides when was the last coaster crash it the U.S? And they said that the ride operater became American!

P.S. Sorry for the spelling!

If you want to watch "Edge of Seventeen" just so you can see the few shots of CP in it, don't watch it. The few shots that they do have are utterly pointless (most of them showcase corkscrew, woohoo!). Also, another shot shows the main character out on the rocks looking over at CP. I'm guessing the they were trying to give the impression that the park was open, but I knew it wasn't when I saw the space spiral in its parked position (why do they park it there anyway?).

DANGER: nitpicking below!!!

TwisterII: please, please, please splurge on a spell checker. If you don't want to pay more for an office suite than you payed for your operating system, get open office. It's free and it has a spell checker. And oh, it's Naga Shima Spa Land, not "Nackai Semia Spa land". Also it may have killed two people, not "to people". Also, coasters come off their tracks, not "of the track". Lastly what the heck is with this sentence!?! : "And they said that the ride operater became American!"

What IS the air-speed velocity of an African swallow?

There is a new movie called Rollercoaster (not the 1970's one) that is an independant film shot someplace in Canada. In the movie, the park is closed and up for auction. Some teenagers break into the park and kidnap a security guard. Two of the teenagers are there to commit suicide and the movie has some very adult content.

This movie is rated R and is definately not for families. I rented it a couple of weeks ago and it is pretty neat in the way that the whole movie takes place in the amusement park. There are scenes of the kids riding the rides and even walking the tracks of a wooden coaster. If you don't mind the adult content and a somewhat meandering story, I would definately recommend this movie for its great closed amusement park shots.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

Back tracking to The Shining I just saw the Stanley hotel yesterday when me and my team(Heath Middle School Swimming and Diving). We got out of school @ 1:20 and got up there around 3:50.

It was really creapy seeing and driving past it at 7:30 at night. Heath got in second, because not one team has beaten Estes for over 5 years. I was 1.5 seconds away from a new state record for my age group.

And I'm in the process of reading the book!

Sorry I just had to say that.
