Movie at Cedar Point

I think that someone should make a movie with Cedar Point in it. Anyone here agree with me? Some sort of "spy" movie, or "action" movie...heck maybe even a "love story" movie. Any takers?

Let's play "Find the one-legged seagull"

Sure, lots of people would love to see CP in the theatres, even for a moment... But you need to find a studio who wants to film there and has the money. Since a lot of the big movie houses shoot mainly in California, look for SFM and KBF to be featured in more films, if they choose to shoot in a park.

Personally, I think that there would be a bit too many people in the park to shoot for my taste. It's one thing if they are extras and know it. It's different when there are hoodlums nearby who think "Wow. I could take that lens and be cool..."

I own you!

Best Amusement park use in a movie....IOA in The House on Haunted Hill. I love how they "redid" Hulk.

If life is full of ups and down, you better make sure your safety restraint is locked and ENJOY the ride.

Yeah, that was a really sweet remake of that film. The remake of the ride was killer! (no pun intended!) ;-)
I assume we're talking about studio films, and not low-budget.

It would probably be too expensive to shoot an entire film at Cedar Point, considering that Sandusky doesn't really have a ready-made industry for that sort of thing.

If the movie itself mainly took place inside the park, with the Point's limited operating season, producers would have to have access to the park for three months or so, which, even if they figured out a way to shoot it without closing to the public, would be a massive, summer-long burden on parkgoers. Plus, if it were, say, an action movie, risk of damage to any coaster or non-film parkgoer would force insurance for the producers to skyrocket. The alternative (closing the park to the public for three peak months) would never happen.

The Shining would have been an exception to this, since the movie obviously takes place in the off-season.

If Cedar Point played a small role (like one or two scenes), it might be more feasible. But then, what's the point of travelling out to Ohio to shoot it?

CP is in "Edge of Seventeen".
TOO expensive? This is the era where movie budgets can exceed $100,000,000. Nothing is TOO expensive...

Yeah, no kidding. If they can shoot out in the middle of the Caribbean waters, why not a park in Ohio? :)

Boycott the RIAA

Because the middle of the Caribbean waters aren't covered in snow half the year, and you don't need to disrupt tourism to film there.

The movie would be too expensive because, unless Cedar Fair is extremely gullible or blinded by product placement, you would have to pay them enough to make up for the lost revenue incurred from closing the park and/or inconveniencing parkgoers for an entire summer.

Add in the cost of moving and housing a large-scale production crew for three months, not to mention paying for big stars and special effects (which really cause those big budgets) to be in the movie, and it becomes too expensive really fast.

Of course, this is assuming that much of the film would be taking place at Cedar Point locations. That doesn't necessarily have to be true.

Now tell me Cedar Point is running out of space.

And "The Shining" wanted to do a car crash on the causeway, but the park said no, hence, that is why the movie had to be shot elsewhere...

Race for the Sky. :::::::::::::9

The Shing takes place in Estas Park, Colorado by a lake and at the Stanley Hotel where there is mountions. But it would probley work with The Breaker hotel.

Born To Ride The Rollercoaster

There was a film called 'Roller Coaster'. Pretty old, though. Not done at Cedar Point, but CP would've been great in it. ;o

Courage is not the absence of fear. It is over comming it.

Roller Coaster takes place at Six Flags Magic Mountion that is about a mad bomer or a guy that is part of a terrerist group. He puts a bomb on Revoultion it opening day and gets killed when he was on the track by a train running from the police. It goes something like that.

i say they make a remake of national lampoons vacation and the themepark they hijack into is cedar point! the only difference is this is once they get into the park. they just have the swat guys do a bunch of crazy action stunts where clark does some funny stuff trying to avoid them. wont happen, but im throwing out an idea. i dont think there will ever be a really good amusement park based movie. theres only so much you can do. i think the alice getting sick on all of those rides at pki when the brady's went there kind of messed every other flick at an amusement park since that's all you can do and all you can normally think of doing.

Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription... is more cowbell!

I am not sure if it was confirmed but there were some reliable sites saying that Final Destination 3 would involve a theme park
