I did a search for this first and didn't get any results, so I thought I'd get your opinions. I know many of us enjoy snapping pics while on point, and I plan to do much more photography this year than in previous years. My question is which coaster or ride do you think is the best and/or easiest to photograph?
I've seen some really great pictures of Maverick, and in my opinion, it is easier to get good shots of it, rather than some of the other rides. I think its pretty hard to get good shots of Wicked Twister.

I would have to vote for Magnum. Granted it is my favorite coaster, but something about the orange contrasting with a blue sky really works for me. The trick is, to do it right, you have to be in Soak City to get the best angles.
i think you might be able to get some really stellar shots while on the beach. While in que you are right under the spiral though i think that would be a really good shot.

Raptor, maXair, Mantis and Millennium Force are my favorite ones to photograph. It isn't uncommon to see me sitting on the midway around maXair getting shots from the ground level, or zooming up on the riders. You can get some really great pics of the hills of Millennium Force that go over the lagoon from either side of the tunnel. Raptor is a classic, with the loop and the corkscrew off of the MCBR. If you are in Soak City, you can get some amazing pictures of Magnum. My favorite photo that I've taken at the park is one that I took back on the path by Bubbles. I was standing right in front of some larger bushes/trees that were just off the path, looking at the slight curve and bunny hop as you're heading back towards the station. I snapped a picture of the train cresting the hop, but when I reviewed it afterwards, I realized that the camera had focused on the bush in front of me, and not the train (I didn't have the camera angled up enough, I guess). At first I didn't like it, but after I looked at it a few more times that day, I decided that it wasn't too bad. A few weeks later I got a print of that as well as several others at Wal-Mart, and it has become my favorite picture (I have some really good ones of Magnum). Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the digital file has been lost. :(

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Really, it depends what time of day it is. If you want Maverick's color to be bright its best to snap shots of it in the morning when the sun is shining on the structure. I say Maverick is the best to photograph because there are many spots to do it. You can head over to the pond, get real close to the drop. Head up the exit and take shots of the infield. Take photos over by the train station of the rolls and more.

Power Tower is another tough one for me because I like to capture as much of the ride as possible, but its hard to do that unless you are at a distance.
I love pictures of Maxair and its surrounding midway.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the coaster that gets more attention than any of the others that are listed, Top Thrill Dragster.

Did we forget about Corkscrew and it's highly photographed spirals over the midway? What about the old Kodak photo spots? Are there any left in the park? I used to like those, except you'd always have the Kodak sign in the middle of the picture you were trying to take. Lol.

Pretty much photographs from the early to mid-morning time frame look the best at any ride at the Point. It's very photogenic between about 8 and 11.
My favorite picture is one I took a few years ago of a ride no longer in the park. It was of the Schwabinchen. I took it at night with the camera mounted on a tripod, and took a timed picture while the ride was spinning. It took quite a few shots to get it without showing the white lights on the bottom. Really cool picture. I will look for it and if I find it, I will post it.

To me, TTD is not as fun to photograph because so many of the pictures looks the same (the tower ones anyway). It does add a lot to general skyline pictures though. Especially panoramic shots similar to the image at the bottom of the PB page.

One of my favorite shots that I have taken was of Millennium going up to the station at sunset.

^^There's more to photograph of Dragster than you think. Most people just focus on the tower because it's its defining feature. So they miss out on the tons of other photo opportunities. Like this for example:

I find Dragster, Millennium and Maverick to be great evening coasters to take pics of.

I really like that MF sunset picture and the TTD station with fireworks picture. My favorite MF picture is the one with its multi colored lights on full brightness at night:

This picture used to be on the CP site but I couldn't find it so I uploaded from my hard drive.

That one of Power Tower just about makes me sick for some reason. I can stare at that all day in person, but that picture makes me dizzy. :)

I managed to get some nice pictures of Maverick at sunset from the SkyHawk queue. They were only 1 megapixel quality however.
Here's some of my personal favorites that I've taken.
