More Questions

I keep on seeing questions asked, and I realize I could do this in them, but I don't want to hijack peoples topics. So sorry if this annoys anyone.

Okay. I was talking to one of my friends, who had a friend who used to work at Cedar Point in 2002. Jusst wanted to confirm what he said and clarify some things.

1) Are the lifeguards in Soak City really a bunch of snobs?

2) I was told that the guy said Cedar Point is full of whores, slutty girls, and STDs. Is this true? Or is it just like really easy to get laid there? I'm hoping it's the latter. haha.

3) I was thinking of applying for admissions, but was told the job royally sucks, because people try and use bad tickets, fight with you over prices, etc. True or no?

4) Do you get discounts on admissions, food, and whatnot?

5) The roomate process is first come, first served, I know. But how do you find one you know you'll like/get along with?

6) What is Cedar Points policy on parties? Do the cops bust them for no reason or does it have to get really bad?

7) Along with 6, what are parties usually like?

8) What's it like to work as a food cashier?

9) Finally, what's the atmosphere? Is it culturally mixed and diverse or is it mainly white or black or whatever?

Thanks!

I'll give ya some answers to the ones worth answering.. the others... *sigh*

3) I know people who have worked there for several years and love it. Like anything else, the job is what you make it.

4) There is the employee cafe in the front of the park and the Stockade for the back half of the park. Food is fairly decent and decently priced. There are no discounts for "park food". As long as you have a valid CP ID, you have free access to the park and Soak City.

5) Luck.. or if you are processing in the same day as someone you know or have already met, there is a chance you can room together. Alot depends on the time of season you process in. Once Commons opens, it's a little easier at first to get rooms with someone you know/have met.

6) Busted for no reason? *sigh* If they show up then there is a reason same as the rest of the world. If someone complains because of noise, or you have underagers and drunks running around making problems, you'll become real popular with the Cedar Point Police department. Honestly, you'll be working too much to really worry about it. God help you if it's your room and it's full of underage drinkers.

7) Honestly, full of obnoxious underagers and morons who don't know how to behave themselves. Hence leading to the problems refered too in #6.

9) It's really mixxed esspecially when the internationals get there. Some may stick with only thier fellow contrymen/country women but most of them want to meet new people and have a good time.

The other questions you asked aren't worth answering.

Thanks for the help. Are the other questions not appropriate for the site? I can take them down if I'm gonna get in trouble...

when it comes to life guards they can be snobs-but i was told in 98 that the gemini crew were snobs-even though we were the best crew ever- and the same thing with mil force-though i hope there can be a ten year of mil force-most of us talk to eachother-

and with the disease thing, just be careful- a few years back they evacutated the 1400 building for crabs-

Quasi... if there is a 10 year for MF.. will the cheeseburger make it's return???

Question #3: Admissions is one of the easiest jobs in the park, if you have a problem with a guest there are TL's and ATL's to deal with them. :)

If you have any specific questions about admissions, let me know. I did work there for a couple of seasons. Or one of my old co-workers might be able to help you on here.

Take a hint? :(

Hmmm...

1. People who say "______ is a bunch of snobs" are usually snobs themselves. I've known lifegaurds I likes, nad I lifegaurds I didn't.

2. Anytime you put that many people living that closely together, you will have your promicuous individuals and STDs. CP is no exception and your chances of getting laid depend on you.

3. No matter what department you work in, there will be guests who try to scam you. Just because there are guests who will try to scam everyone. It's the same no matter what you do, if you work with the public.

4. You get free admission for yourself, and 4 free tickets for friends, then discount tickets after that. No discounts on park food or merch, but lots of places in Sandusky give discounts. Burger King, for example, gives a 20% discount. It's a good thing.

5. If you get sucky roommates, move out. You'll probably be able to find a friends who has an open bed where they're living.

6. They usually stay out of your life unless your apartment gets loud and rowdy. Once you're on their radar, however, you'd better be good. If you don't do anything wrong, you won't get in trouble. Oh, and just so you know, you can get noise complaints before quiet hours start. Don't even try to argue with them.

7. There's always something going on somewhere.

8. Couldn't tell ya, I work in rides.

9. If it lives, it's probably at CP. It takes all kinds, and we've got them all. I really have never been in a more diverse environment. That's actually one of the best parts. Where else are you going to work with people from at least three continents, people from all races, religions, and cultures??

Correction, this past year there were 2 days a week for a couple hours employees could get a discount at certain stores. I believe the discount was 10% at Pagoda and Snoopy.

They never advertised that we got the discount at Snoopy thou! That discount is a wonderful thing thou, I remember one of my last days I went to Pagoda and there were all these employees using their discounts. :)

It is really nice that places around Sandusky give you a discount just because you work at Cedar Point. HR will have a list when you process in that shows every where you can get a discount from.

I wish I could come back for another season...:(

I have worked at CP for the last two summers as a lifegaurd and i don't think i'm a snob at all. Actually, i've made some lifelong friends. And there are many perks to being a lifegaurd. We're indisposable. They need us b/c they can't train more, so they can't try to find ways to fire you at the end of the season b/c they need you around. You are almost guaranteed to get rehired b/c experience as a lifegaurd is a must. We hang out with eachother all the time and there's always something going on. Not to mention the great tan and the tan lines. I still have them and it's going on 6 months. It's a great job and you make tons of friends. And the supervision there is great. They know everyone and hang out with us all too. Even our silver tag.

Okay. I was talking to one of my friends, who had a friend who used to work at Cedar Point in 2002. Jusst wanted to confirm what he said and clarify some things.

1) Are the lifeguards in Soak City really a bunch of snobs?
--- Who cares??

2) I was told that the guy said Cedar Point is full of whores, slutty girls, and STDs. Is this true? Or is it just like really easy to get laid there? I'm hoping it's the latter. haha.

----- Yes, tons of sults were a rubber. There are lots of fat mid western women, avoid them at all costs. Don't worry there are tons of fine forenin women who are at CP to have fun. Whatever you do NOT get in a realationship just bang bang bang.

3) I was thinking of applying for admissions, but was told the job royally sucks, because people try and use bad tickets, fight with you over prices, etc. True or no?

---- Yes that job sucks unless you like to make what $6/hr with no over time---

4) Do you get discounts on admissions, food, and whatnot?
---they screw you in the employee cafe, your best bet is to work in a restaurant, not some food wagon.----

5) The roomate process is first come, first served, I know. But how do you find one you know you'll like/get along with?

----- Your best bet is not never be at home then you will get along fien with your roomate. Your room is not a place to hang out, you will work and party not sit in your room------

6) What is Cedar Points policy on parties? Do the cops bust them for no reason or does it have to get really bad?
----- go to the bar, again don't hangout in your room---
7) Along with 6, what are parties usually like?
----booze, there was a guy at in park restaurant that served pizzas and pasta that would throw huge parties at a rented venue, go to those at all costs.-----
8) What's it like to work as a food cashier?
----LAME----

9) Finally, what's the atmosphere? Is it culturally mixed and diverse or is it mainly white or black or whatever?
------ Lots of white folks, a few blacks then tons of foreigners. About 70% of the american males are gay, this is good for you because that increases the loose females to strait male ratio. ----

Thanks!

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Soak City lifeguards snobs?? Well yes, yes we are, but no more than anyone else you have a chance of meeting. Personally I think most of the people on my crew were pretty nice to everyone, as was I but im a conceited kid like that. I wish i could be working Soak City in 2008 or whatever it is to get myself a "celebrating 20 years of being better than you" t-shirt :)
